em... guys, I apologize, and I feel stupid for this, but apparently I do not own this domain. jaydub's post made me wonder why tucows because moniker is my registrar, and I when I checked I realized that I do not own it. I thought I did accodring to my portfolio xls, I don't know why I thought I did

I apologize once again and consider this thread closed and auction invalid

It's happened to me too. I wonder if it might be fun to start a thread where we each share the biggest domain that ever "got away" from us without our noticing.

Also it would be interesting to know what percentage of domainers have experienced this. I bet that for people with more than a certain number of domains, it's a pretty high percentage.

Some registrars (e.g., DomainSite.com and MyDomain.com) keep listing domains in your account (and including them in renewal notices) long after you have transferred them out to other registrars. So you don't know which listed domains are really there and which are not. If you guess wrong you can lose one: I've lost some domains because I thought I'd transferred them out to other registrars, but the transfer failed, and then I ignored the notices from the first registrar. (Those notices might have listed thirty or forty domains needing renewal, and only one really was there and did.)

Other registrars (e.g., OnlineNIC.com) simply fail every transfer out attempt for no apparent reason. It's hard to escape them. They don't always send notices; and if you are one day late renewing, the domain is gone from your account forever; and no evidence it was ever there.

Finally, I've lost some simply because I was inattentive. Real life gets busy, domaining get neglected, mistakes get made.

Ah well...
Domaining has been kind to me nonetheless. :)
