this is the link to the 'agreement'
between DomainDiscover & ANY affiliate partner..

* 1st paragraph.. is rather interesting..

http://www.domaindiscover.com/affiliate/contract.shtml

Evidently BuyDomains, is accredited / affiliated ONLY
through DiscoverDomains..
which is totally cool..

and allows the affiliate to sell all extensions..
(i'm pretty sure on that)

What BuyDomains has created is good.. it's a means to drive in buyers.. that's good.

But i'm still confused about the listed 'Registar'
when one were to 'register' a name through BuyDomains..

who would show as the 'registar' on the doc's??

this is the domain registration agreement..
direct from the DomainDiscover.com website..
as if, for example i were to register a name through
DomainDiscover for $25 yrly..

(however, in their agreement it also states that they are 2 year registration time frames, so i guess at the checkout counter, the customer is told it's $50 not $25)

Well.. what is MOST interesting to me is the following clause.. in the registration agreement..

** MUST PAY FOR RENEWAL WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DOMAIN EXPIRE DATE.. OR LOOSE IT...
to the 'domain registry admin'

they place themselves as the registry admin on names registered through their site.

IS THIS HOW THEY GAIN OWNERSHIP OF PEOPLE'S DOMAINS,
WHO DONT' READ THE FINE PRINT..
AND THEY CAN SNAG THEIR DOMAIN EVEN BEFORE IT EXPIRES?

TELL ME THIS IS NOT SOO..

Payment and Term. Customer agrees to pay the annual fee for each domain registered by Customer, in accordance with the pricing information found on our website. Customer acknowledges that domains are not reserved or registered until payment is received, and that all domain registration fees are non-refundable. The initial period of this agreement is 2 years, and will be renewed yearly upon payment of the then-current yearly registration fee. Customer will be given 30 days notice prior to expiration of Domain registration in which to submit payment. If Domain registration fees are not paid within the 30 days prior to registration expiration, the Domain will be subject to deactivation and/or termination by the Registry Administrator.

i would assume buydomains does the same thing..

this 30 day payment PRIOR to the expiry date.. i just don't understand that..

that's not normal is it??

This is from the registration agreement, available online
from http:/www.DomainDiscover.com

So, if BuyDomains is a reseller for DomainDiscover.. then I assume this would be the same for all of BuyDomain names that are reg' d from their site.. right?

?? Question i have, is they state 'owner must pay any outstanding registration fee's..
well, you wouldn't be outstanding.. if you've already paid to register the domain name right, even if 90 days later you decide to 'sell' the domain/transfer ownership??

Ownership. The person or organization listed as the organizational contact at the commencement of this agreement will be considered the "owner" of the domain name. Although Registrar will accept changes to Domain contact information via Customer's control panel, Registrar's record of the Domain "owner" can only be changed via the following procedure. To transfer ownership of the Domain to another party, the Customer must pay all outstanding registration fees, and submit a written letter to Registrar that describes their intent to relinquish ownership of the Domain to another party. The new Domain owner must submit a written letter to Registrar that indicates their acceptance of the terms of this agreement. The new Domain owner must also pay a transfer of registration fee.

i randomly searched for an domain for sale on BuyDomains..

i found: EngineSource.com FOR SALE..

so i went to INTERNIC.com to do a who is lookup..

this is how the name data appears

Domain Name: ENGINESOURCE.COM
Registrar: DOMAINDISCOVER

BuyDomains owns this name... and sits on their own servers.
but the REGISTAR is listed as DomainDiscover.. their affiliate partner Registar.

DomainDiscover.com

Wow, this site has truly gone to the dogs. And this guy is a Domain Whiz? If Whiz stands for urination perhaps so.

Anyone have insights on sites that offer real domain discussions?
