Is there anywhere that shows pending deletes/dropped domains of the .ca (Canada) extension?

Greg

well that stinks. Business idea for someone who knows that stuff.

:cheeky: and for the record POOL captures .ca ... "I have a dream"...one day canadians would bid like crazy for .ca drops :-D

If you aren't a canadian will they hold the domain for you "in trust"?

yes, pools has a .ca drop list, since they catch them.

There was a link somewhere on their site for non Canadians telling them how they can still get .cs from them. Can't recall where exactly the link was.

yes. I tried looking at the FAQ at pool, but found no reference. I am sure it was there. It was there during the first week they started catching CA names.

You can just send them an email.
What probably happens is that they reg the name since they are in Canada, but you are the owner 'off the record' by agreement with them.
It was something like that.

That "off the record" ownership agreement clearly goes against CIRA's terms and I don't think Pool.com (a CANADIAN company) would be silly enough to do that.

I am just saying what I remember. I could be wrong.
I am pretty sure that's how it worked though.
What's illegal about pool owning a domain and you 'leasing' it from them?

LOL! That TBR list has always been linked from the home page of CIRA, so it's not really a secret. :D Internic.ca USED TO carry a really big file of expiring .ca's 30 days ahead, until they point to Pool.com.

You could always lease a domain name for USE from anybody. However, from the OWNERSHIP perspective, having an "off the record" deal does not do you any good when CIRA clearly has their Canadian presence requirements, esp. when you are trying to RESELL it. Of course, we never own any domain name, we just lease them from the registry. :D

I have an idea!

Americans register .us
Canadians register .ca
And every other country sticks to their own CC domain extensions.

There is a list at DropWizard which was the first drop service into the .ca's

The list covers the whole 30 day suspension period not just the last 24hours as Cira does.

It is available through your control panel in your accounts at DropWizard. For those of you that don't have accounts here is a link.

http://dropwizard.com/Canlist.htm

Our service has a moitoring fee of $4.95 which is good for a year and you can monitor names coming up to expiry not just the suspended ones.
