.CA hits half million mark

Ottawa, March 7, 2005 – The 500,000th dot-ca Internet domain name was registered according to figures released today by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA).

But that is not the best part. The following is:

In 2004, the number of dot-ca domain names registered rose 24%, from 389,216 in 2003, to 482,684 registrations. In contrast, the number of dot-com domain names registered by Canadians rose only 10% from 1,043,043 in 2003 to 1,144,801 in 2004.

There is simply no brighter manipulation of numbers than saying 93,468 (482,684 - 389,216) is actually larger in value than 101,758 (1,144,801 - 1,043,043).
