I was under the impression that registrars gave this option to customers... to renew a name in redemption period, before it goes into pending delete status.

I noticed that a domain that I would like to renew is in redemption, but it looks like I do not have the option to renew it at moniker.

Do other registrars offer this option?

Don't know about moniker but i know when a domain i had with godaddy was in redemption after a certain amount of days it was gone from my panel, so i had to call/email them to get it back.

I am pretty sure you have to redeem from the registrar that lost it. I am also pretty sure they have to offer you redemption. Not 100% sure

Some registrars will charge a fee for renewing in redemption period. Are you saying that it does not show under Domains Expired in Moniker? Or has it passed that time period?

Most registrars do offer the option to renew a domain in a 'redemption' status for an extra fee and all have the ability.

It my understanding that registrars are not required to provide that option and I'm not familiar what Moniker's current policy.

The lines are blurring because NSI and Enom are selling names through Namejet before they even go into redemption and Godaddy calls the registrar grace period 'redemption' even though it is the registry status of 'redemption' They also auction names during that grace period but leave the option to the owner pay a fee to renew.

Just email Moniker support and cross your fingers they get back to you in a timely manner

I pulled a domain out of redemption once with Tucows, I think I paid $180.

Please let us know if Moniker offers recovery... Hope it works out for you.

About $150 at eNom and $120 at GoDaddy to renew while in redemption.

Got a PM from Moniker, it will cost $180 if they are successful at getting it back. It is a manual process so you need to open a support ticket and request this.

It is a manual process but the recovery doesn't take more than 5 minutes to do. I've done many of them personally as I work for multiple registrars. As far as registrars having to offer the service, not sure if they have to but any good one should. As long as the domain isn't in the last day of RGP (30th day) then you should be fine and get the name back.
