can someone help with a 404 error page

I have pchangout.net
if you type for example www.pchangout.net/sadlfks

i get the 404 error and i want all that traffic to be redirected to the index page. how do you do this?

If you do not already have one, create a text file and name it ".htaccess" (mind you, NOT "htaccess.txt") and upload it to your server with the following:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.pchangout.net

provided that you are using Unix of course.

I tried that , it doesnt work, I also tried to create a custom page in cpanel but there is no option to forward.
