Typo for candystand.com (ovt w/e 135971)

What do you think the value is? I haven't parked it yet.

I have to say I am a little baffled at this. Yes "d" and "a" are both close on the keyboard so it could be a typo, which is more likely than a mispelling, but why would so many hit two incorrect characters in stead of the "s".

What is even more perverse is that there are no entries in Overture for candydtand, candyatand, candydtand.com or candyatand.com!!!

It occurs to me that it might not be too difficult to create Overture Searches for Keywords with a view to selling dot coms based on those keywords.

Did you buy this or reg it?

Best Regards

I registered it. Only thing that I can think is that it's little kids who are typing it. That's why there are so many typos for sites like disneychannel.com, etc.

I searched over 4400 possible typos for candystand.com and found this.

Well, if you regged it yourself then you know you haven't been conned. I have been doing some work using Anonymous Proxy Servers so I can look a Geotargeting around the Globe. Of course it has occurred to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to start doing all sorts of dodgy stuff using Anonymous Proxies.

I must admit after looking at this, I would never take Overture at face value again.

Anyway, good luck with the domain. Hope the traffic matches the Overture.

Nice reg, I think you are right about kids typing it in wrong. Have you seen the insane amount of Disney Channel typos w/ ovt w/e? It is amazing that you found this unregged though, it would be interesting to track the history of the ovt score.

It's a generic term, so there aren't TM issues. And if it gets traffic, the traffic will continue, since the site's been online for a while and probably won't go anywhere soon.

You might even want to just make your own parking page and incorporate adsense into a mini game directory.

Good luck, and once again, nice reg.

There's no overture for "candydatand" and that makes skeptical whether this domain lives up to the standard expectations for a domain with such ovt w/ext.

You have to keep in mind that kids are visiting candystand.com because it's on lifesaver's wrappers, not because they are searching for candystands on the internet with yahoo.

Do type-ins register in Overture, I thought it was just search engine searches?

Problem from a commercial point of view is that even if these kids had credit cards, it would seem that none of them would be able to type the sequence corrrectly? So where exactly is the pay-off?

Is there anyway of doing this? Obviously, if it is genuine it should track back several years, if came from nowhere last month then it would imply that there is a rabbit off.

The payoff is ppc. Kids are more likely to click text ads because they might not understand the difference between an ad and a regular link.

Yes, but this amount to the kind of junk traffic that the PPC parking services are trying to differentiate, i.e. bin!

If the advertisers is making no brass from the deal, then the PPC dries up. The parking services are going to try to prevent that from happening by filtering out traffic that doesn't turn a buck.

Ok, maybe a company that is trying to brand it's name or drive traffic to it's offline store wants to advertise. They don't care that kids won't pull out their mom's credit cards and buy something, what they care about is the kid just saw this cool site about The French Fry Man and will bug his mom to take him to McDonalds to get the toy.

No way to say PPC doesn't work with kids. Kids still have buying power, which is why they are targetted big time by corporations.

how do you guys get Overture history results?

---
I do believe this domains value can only be determined by parking it and testing the number of hits on it.

and yes .. kids traffic is worth $ to the big evil corporations.

also to sites like
barbie.everythinggirl.com
and others that get the kids to signup and ..
