About $0 and a free visit from the DEA.
Legalization of drugs in the US is pure science fiction.

1) [UK] January 2004: Marijuana changed to a Class C Drug, you can no longer be arrested with possessions of cannabis.

2) Alexa Traffic Rank for drug-related domains:
Overgrow.com: 7,460
Hightimes.com: 16,908
Marijuana.com: 38,341
Cannabisculture.com: 41,558
Cannabis.com: 75,545
** Taken from Overgrow.com 'Advertise With Us' page.

3) 30% of Americans smoke marijuana, this equates to over 100,000,000 americans.

4) Marijuana smokers have hit their all-time population peek, now surpassing the hippy era.

If the DEA are really going to come calling, why arent they attacking any marijuana sites?
OverGrow.com simply has a disclaimer relieving them of the liabilities of marijuana cultivation and smoking.

Are you seriously going to tell me that cannabis.com is worth nothing at all? It sounds to me that you arent willing to accept realistic changes.

Its time to invest in domains like this as within 20 years they are all going to be taken. I myself have just purchased a domain, druglovers.com, which i plan to develop.

valuenames, great domain name, worth well over $100K. The domain is also worth hanging on to because at the moment it will have no value in comparison to when cannabis is legalised, which it will be, i have no doubt it will be worth over a million.

Tobacco, and soon-to-become marijuana corporations have a LOT of money and the months after official legalisation of the drug, there will be a LARGE price for cannabis.com and marijuana.com etc.

if cannabis.com was developed to the standard of overgrow.com, it would probably double in value.

Overgrow.com pulls amazing amounts of traffic, no doubt. However, relying on Alexa rankings alone can give one a false view of reality. I have some sites that often beat cannabis.com in Alexa ranking and yet I know for a fact get about 1/10th the traffic - guess many cannabis.com users don't have the Alexa toolbar installed or something.

Marijuana smokers have hit their all-time population peek, now surpassing the hippy era.

Good point. And that doesn't even include medicinal use - various cannabinoids in cannabis are increasingly being utilized in medicines - GW Pharaceuticals in the U.K. is doing some exciting things in that regard.

If the DEA are really going to come calling, why arent they attacking any marijuana sites?

Legally, they really can't do much...but more fundlementally, for the DEA et al, such sites are actually a blessing - takes much less personnel to monitor such websites than having to physically infiltrate groups as in the pre-internet days; was a Slashdot article relating to this subject the other week.

OverGrow.com simply has a disclaimer relieving them of the liabilities of marijuana cultivation and smoking.

Exactly. Discussion, even of illicit activities, is often *not* illegal - in addition, cannabis in and of itself, is not explicitedly illegal - so in that regard, such sites are protected multiple fold; note however Overgrow.com is based in Canada so the former protection (1st Amendment) does not apply.

Its time to invest in domains like this as within 20 years they are all going to be taken. I myself have just purchased a domain, druglovers.com, which i plan to develop.

Got your PM ...

...after official legalisation of the drug, there will be a LARGE price for cannabis.com and marijuana.com etc.

Definitely - and yes marijuana.com is another great domain...love to own it, but can't justify the ask for it...at least not right now.

if cannabis.com was developed to the standard of overgrow.com, it would probably double in value.

"the standard"? Yes, Overgrow.com gets more traffic than cannabis.com - however, traffic alone isn't what counts, it's quality. Cannabis growers, as a group, tend to purchase very little and are not loyal (they bounce around from site to site...most visit cannabis.com already from time to time) - note their lack of diversity in regards to their advertisers. Don't get me wrong, Overgrow.com is a great site, but traffic doesn't tell the whole story. I'd rather get more unique visitors than lots of repeat visitors who use lots of resources (every interaction has a small, but very real transaction cost that adds up), but contribute little and buy nothing; more isn't always better when it comes to profit margins.

Apparently, no one in this thread reads much. A multi-millionaire in Canada has already begun selling mari over the Internet from a Canada location --and we all know how those Canadians can get away with murder ;)

That guy invested millions in his name. I suggest you do a few searches and contact that guy. He has money to throw around and would love the instant boost to his site.

my 2cents... good luck.

oh, and to the people afraid of the DEA, I say "F tha po-lice"! ;)

I've fought the law and ...I WON. So, ;p

I am 90% certain, although I could be wrong...

I don't have time to try to find the article at the moment, but it was an Internet article ...so it shouldn't be too hard to find. I believe it was published as a "controversial topic" by Yahoo news or CNN.

CANNABIS.COM appraisal revisited.

Gross revenues is similar to last year ... around $10,000 USD per month. Pure type-in traffic is likely similar, but overall traffic has increased - some of that due to a new message board that was added in Jan-2004 that's greatly increased in popularity in recent months.

The general concensus about a year ago was the cannabis.com domain was worth around $300,000 USD to about $1 Million USD.

Interested in knowing what folks think the value of cannabis.com is today ...

I'm actively pursuing selling the domain and will likely sell if the price is right ... I'd like to get around $3 Million USD, but perhaps that's way unrealistic ... so anyways, I welcome appraisals and related comments.

Only sale if you get an offer you lose sleep over because its so good.

However, I do believe Cannabis will be legalized in the upcoming years. There are police who've said that they let people go if they find some on them, as long as its not a big trunk full or anything.

Name is worth $500,000 - $1 Million or more.

Cannabis is a big thing, everyone knows about it, and ALOT of people are beginning to smoke it.

Not everyone who smokes Marijuana try harder drugs.. I myself do not smoke anything at all.

But, I know ALOT of people who do smoke it and they haven't tried anything else thats HARDER..

If it was up to me.. This would be legalized and Cigarettes would be banned.

Why would smoking this be better for your health than cigarettes? If it was me I would make it legal and tax the crap out of it like they tax tobacco products.

Too bad your company doesn't own grass.com.

"Cannabis" is universally understood globally unlike "grass", which is a slang term that many folks don't associate with cannabis at all.

With that said, grass.com would be ideal for a lawncare company - I'm surprised the domain just points to a PPC page.

Even "marijuana", which is a great word, isn't as global as cannabis - marijuana can be spelled multiple ways and is somewhat a slang term, especially in some countries.

Those are just my opinions - ultimately the value of cannabis.com is up to the market place and thus this thread - more feedback welcomed.

Wow, finally found this thread....as you all probably already know I am always bragging about my "MedicalTHC.com", "CannabisRX.com", "Delta9THC.com" and "Sinsemilla.net" domains and of course Marijuana.ws and the dozens of others I have collected over the years (my fav being PotPrescription.com)...whether or not it rubs you the wrong way CANNABIS.COM is a flawless TOP GEM DOMAIN & encompasses the ENTIRE plant genus of Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, Cannabis Ruderalises and possibly even a newly discovered sub-type called Cannabis Chinensis (odd floral formations on fan leaves trait- found in asia)
Thus, this domain summarizes and represents not only the traditional, societal, cultural, illegal, and industrial (world hemp trade -worth billions) aspects of the world and pot but also the educational aspects of this subject AND also draws in naturally a purely astounding amount of visitors and will forever and ever and ever, the hallmark aspect of any truly great 5 star domain, this domain is SURELY worth on the VERY LOW END 1 MILLION DOLLARS +++, ....it's got instant recognition, a tremendous future, and imo one of the greatest social domains on the internet and purveys what this whole electronic age is all about...freedom and information, and of course killer buds! woooooohoooooooooo ::::rips big bong hit:::: I would literally give you my first born for this domain....if you registered it originally you are a genius. And if you bought it from someone else...you are a genius....and if you HOLD ONTO IT for a little while longer and wait for full commercial legalization, then you are just one smart guy that will make even more cold hard cash. Peace & LOTS OF POT!

Chris

PS- for those that don't know it already...CANNABIS is the #1 cash crop on planet earth...do your research! For the record...MAN made beer, and GOD made POT, who do you trust? :smartass:

You die anyways, and you only move on to HARD drugs if you are an idiot with a predisposition for drug abuse anyways (drugabuse.com heheh) the whole BS gateway theory is political propaganda just like the whole war on people...errrr drugs..had they been fighting terrorism and working on improving our economy (like with taxes on pot?) and not waging a war on our own people and overcrowding our jails and putting innocent non-voilent US citizens behind bars for victimless "crimes"...then imo we would probably be in much better shape as a country right now, politically better as well too, our relations with several countries are strained over the dreaded "devils weed" as it is...CANADA in particular who looks like they will be going for full social decrim very soon, its already the social decorum there as it is, in which case the US in it's ultimate wisdom will potentially be severing trade ties with and enforcing embargos against Canada almost like we did with Cuba..whatever, don't get me wound up!

smoke pot..chill out...
