Each is worth less than $100 due to the TM's.

$100 is the most a TM law firm normally will pay to avoid WIPO.

I deleted my domain registration for PorscheBoxsters.com when Porsche said they wanted it. I figured I had no chance of keeping it. However, it was eventually re-reged by someone else and they still have it so perhaps Porsche was just blowing hot air. But my opinion still holds that if Porsche, Jaguar or any other car company wants a name like this, they will be able to get it - no problem. You can't possibly expect to seriously use a domain like this. As soon as you start making any profit on it, the company will come after it and get it.

My appraisal: $0.00

I understand that - but I am asking someone maybe on ebay or someone who doesnt care about the TM issues - what would it be worth to them?

No offense (I don't know the situation), but why on earth would you delete your registration for such an in-demand name? Did you even try to sell it to Porsche for a very modest mark-up (I.e., $100)? It seems to me that if Porsche wanted it, they can pay the money to buy it. This is still cheaper for them than even filing the court papers to come and forcefully get it from you (much less going all the way through WIPO). To give up without a fight sets a precedent that domain prospectors should flinch at the first sign of trouble.

I personally own two unnamed (don't want to crap on GT's thread) top-of-the-line Lexus and BMW model car .com's and plan to hold on to them specifically to sell to Lexus or BMW should they want them. Of course if another "fan" comes along in the process, I will be more than happy to sell then as well.

I personally wonder why everyone is so gun-shy for TM violations when it comes to freshly regged (or cheaply acquired) domains. (I wouldn't go and pay too much over $100 for an obvious TM violation, but they are certainly worth a modest markup from their original reg fee).

Anyway, that's my honest opinion.

My appraisal of GT's domains: $100 each. Nice grab!

thank you.... I agree...for $8.75 they are well worth the reg....worst that happens is Jaguar/Infiniti send me a C&D and I ask them to pay me $100 for each name...if that fails I give them up for nothing and I lose only $8.75 per name.... but wait, there might be more great car names comming!

I remember regging that a few months ago, just for the heck of it, and then sold it for like $10 or something

Simple. Because I'm an honest person and they were right.

One can make good money in domains without trying to hold trademarked domains over the holder's head demanding cash. Doing these types of things is what gives us in this business a bad reputation.

More people who register these types of domains should think about this fact.
