Snagged CarHappy.com today. Don't you just love it? LOL!

What do you think a fun, all encompassing name like this might fetch?

Don't know about you, but I'm certainly CarHappy!

Truthfully, no I don't. This type of domain name will only be valuable for an individual(s) looking for a brandable, marketable domain name.

Regfee to a reseller.
High XXX - mid X,XXX (possibly) to an end user.

LOL!!! Thanks for your input. :)

All kidding aside, I value your opinion.

As a Green Party organizer I use that phrase all the time. We have a car-happy culture in North America to be sure. It's killing us, but hey, be happy!

Value - couldn't tell you, but it would make a great name for an auto dealer.

Not quite sure what you meant by that. If you read my post I said that it would only be valuable to a company/individual seeking a brandable, marketable domain name. I have personally never heard this used...ever. It returns 26,000 returns from Google.

It's worthless to a reseller.

What do you mean by Reseller?

Your post is quite confusing... You say it's worthless to a "Reseller" but would be valuuable as a Branded, Marketable Domain. How is it SOLD if not through a Reseller?

I think you might mean TRAFFICER, Parker or Domain Squatter... not a Reseller.

By your own description, a Reseller WOULD find a Brandable, Marketable domain valuable as he will generate capital on the RESALE of the domain.

And you're absolutely RIGHT... I bought it to Resell. I would then be a Reseller. And if it truly is, as you suggest, worth $xxx - $xxxx... that it IS valuable to a Reseller.

Unless a Grand is worthless to you, I supose. Hmmm....

Anyway, I was just being jovial with you earlier as you comment was clearly in contradiction with itself.

Just forget it... I return you to your regularly schedule program, now in session. :)

I mostly ignore appraisal threads exactly because of reactions like GoPC's. Rockafeller's first post was 100% understandable and I agree with it.

Thanks. I agree. People post domain names for appraisals and only want to hear what they want to hear. Thanks for understanding Denny.

Reseller is 95% of this forum, just looking to be a glorified middle man for a domain sale really.

Denny buys Carhappy.com from you for 100$ and sits on it for 3 months and eventually John Doe from Random Place, Arkansas comes along and wants to the domain for a business venture and Denny gets 1.5k out of him for it, because the end user (John) is looking for a domain specifically like that, so it's worth it to him to pay the price.

Cars.com is a domain any reseller would want because they can easily dev it or flip it. Carhappy.com is just an end user name.

Make sense yet? If not, then I don't know what else to say or do.

I agree with Rockafeller's appraisal.

Reactions like mine? I was pleasant, jovial and fun.

Confused with a post that basically said "worthless" to a reseller but worth "xxx - xxxx" if resold.

You can't see the HUMOR in that?

I think the problem here is not reactions like mine... it's folks that take themselves to seriously.

C'mon man... lighten up. This is supposed to be FUN :)

And I agree 1000000%

But I don't think that's what he meant... I think he meant a "Parker", "Trafficer" or generalized "low hanging fruit gatherer".

Which would make total sense to me. It's not a generic, it's not a high volume natural type-in, it's not an idea candidate for someone's park-n-earn portfolio.

But then again, that's not why I bought it. It's a BRAND domain, and as he pointed out, a highly marketable one.

Again, I couldn't agree more.

It's alot like guys that use a "," in their pricing rather than a "." or drop the Zero.... It's just plain confusins. I see 2.5 and I naturally see 2.5 Million. Instead, it COULD be 2.50, it might even be 2,500. Or I see 2,5 and I have no idea what to think on that one.

You can certainly see the humor in THAT. I certainly do.

That is and always WAS my point.

The fact that others react badly to perfectly positive and light conversation is unfortunate and sad.

This thread was supposed to be HAPPY. CarHappy in fact. :whoo:

This domain isn't "all encompassing" - it encompasses the automobile industry only.

The domain was probably worth a registration, on the basis that you probably paid around $10 for it, and it's worth around $30 to a reseller, $500 to an end user.

People who buy domains can be split into a few groups.

Endusers - these people buy domain names with plans to DEVELOP them into a functional website. They usually pay the most money for domains.

Resellers - these are the speculators who try to buy low and sell high.

Parkers - they buy traffic names based on a multiple of their termly revenue.

It's harder to find an end user than a reseller, so appraisals are usually based on a) enduser price and/or b) reseller price.

I'm sure you'll pick it up if you read the forums some more :) Good luck with learning about the domain industry.

I figured that was understood. I was speaking within the industry. :)

As for your other points, GOOD points. I agree. This domain is TOTALLY geared around an end user. Fortunately, there are about a BILLION Car Dealers around the world, a BILLION more car car product dealers and manufacturers and about TWICE as many Car Fanatics.

In other words, I think the waters are flush with live in this particluar industry. It's not like I'm shopping for uranium or some other micro-market.

The Auto Industry is a target rich environment.

If, that is, I don't keep it for myself and just have fun with it :)

Hey, THANKS for your input. I appreciate it!

I am sure you will get an offer or two over the next years, but I gotta agree with many others here, you probably cant ask for too much as I would not see a company buying this name but rather a single person, which usually limits the price, I would say if you get $500 out of it that would be a good sale

It's depends largely on personal preference.
I like this one. If I owned a car dealer I would gladly pay 2000 for this. If I owned a big dealer I can pay more.
(But I'm not saying other dealers will pay that too. They may think differently).

a *car-dealer* wouldnt be interested in it.. Rather a website for people who tweak their cars or collectors would be a good place.. basically a place for people obsessed with their cars..
