Celebrity Domain Names? Legal Issues?

What is case with celebrity exact name .com domains? Whether it be actors, singers, athletes? can these names be trademarked and what is the case if there are dozens, hundreds or thousands of ppl with the same name?

I've never hand regged any - but have owned one as part of bulk portfolios I purchased and considered dropping them when discoved, when very shortly after purchase the lawyer of the celeb contacted me and asked for price, and agreed to 1st one I mentioned - which I figured would save both of us the legal hassle. But now I am being offered a few others and am not sure whether or not to accept; and I am only considering because of the price...

Should I pass up or consider them?
