I was wondering if anyone has any advice for making a celebrity fansite without getting in trouble. For example, if you were going to make a Jerry Springer fansite, could you use the domain name JerrySpringerFans.com or do you need to buy a domain name that does not contain the celebrity's name at all? haha and no, I'm not interested in doing a Jerry Springer website!

The best way to protect yourself is to not generate any revenue off from it. Celebs & trademark holders tend to frown on other people profiting from their names/ideas.
