How does one keep track of these guys? I'm sure there are plenty dumb enough to use the same usernames, but surely there are many who are a bit smarter than that?

I'm told that scum bag scammers can leave it as late as 6 months ! - maybe other members know more

If they pay on PayPal with a credit card they can do a chargeback with the credit card company, some of them have windows up to 1.5 years. The problem with keeping track of the scammers is that most of them are doing this with stolen PayPal accounts, so usually you're just tracking victims. The best thing to do is use escrow/bank wire unless you completely trust the person.

I would be interested to know about chargebacks from Paypal as I bought a domain from someone who has scammed me, 2checkout.com. It was only for £25 or so but Paypal has said cannot do chargebacks for Domain names. They said that last week. Why is it therefore I hear about chargebacks ?.

I know this because at one time I ran a large ecommerce website online....scammers can charge back the merchant up to a YEAR later if you take in a credit card as payment...

I had scammers doing this to me so I closed it down. Only egold once you send it as payment it stays paid...no chargebacks.

Paypal is in the middle...it stays paid until they submit a claim and paypal sides with the consumer then they give them a refund.

Take your pick...none are great options. But as long as you are dealing with good well known buyers then its not an issue. I pay with paypal on here all the time and am good for it. But others arent sometimes... too bad it has to be that way.

Chargebacks are very difficult to fight even with a signed contract and a direct merchant account. They will keep sending it back through citing a different reason code. In the end it goes to arbitration, and you may end up paying fees which exceed the transaction, if you lose. Electronic goods and services are hard to prove. Signed delivery receipts are your own hope. The best option when it comes to selling domains is to use an 10% escrow service. I have not had any fraudulent domain transactions so far, but I would advise as more new people enter the market to be on the lookout. Just use your instincts and review a person's feedback as a guideline.

Does it give more protection if the buyer is verified on DNForum? If it does, why aren't more members verified? If it doesn't, why are so many verified?
