Hello Folks-

First, I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong section...

Can someone tell me what is the best way to establish a current valuation on a given domain name? I know this appraisal forum is a very good place to start, but I need to obtain an *official* appraisal that will be accepted by the US Internal Revenue Service.

I am doing all this work so that I can donate some domain names to charities (to be developed as their home pages).

Thanks!
:yo:

I don't think an appraisal will be allowed for donating on tax purposes, you will only be allowed the reg fee I believe.

Try to establish a reasonable price for the domain name.

- Sell the name to the charity - send them an invoice - for the discussion $500

- Once you receive the check from the charity for $500 - Sign a check and donate to them for $500
- The charity will then send you a statement for amount that you donate - $500 - It's all legal.
