'The Network for Chats!'â„¢

There are only 1003 domains listed on GreatDomains.com (all TLD's), and this one is one of the 230 .net's ! So, by that standard, this domain name is one-in-a-million. They are simply taking too long to sell this name for me. And they're asking for far too much :) So, I thought I'd go to the horse's mouth as it were and find out what the real players in this industry (that's you guys, lol) wanna gimme fer it...
Chats.net
expiration: 02-May-2005
There's just a dummy website up now, with a logo idea. The "DreamChat" window is just an affiliate link. I do not have any traffic numbers, but I'm sure it's not much as I've never sold even one poster, lol.

PM's and postings are welcomed.

BTW, my one other posting this evening is of a first-class generic, one-word adult domain in the .ws namespace. If you are looking for something like that (adult only), here's the thread: [thread]74117[/thread].

Thanks for looking!

I wouldn't say every (or even most) of the domain names on GreatDomains are one in a million. They are getting pretty saturated lately. Nice name though. I agree with you that $25,000 is too much. What is your reserve and what are you hoping to get for it?

Honestly, I would probably let it go for $3000, but would not be offended if I were offered more or less :) I would say, though, that I couldn't consider less than $1000. This is the first time this has been listed outside of GreatDomains, so I'd like to see a few firm offers before I decide what it's really worth to me, etc. Just floating this one out there and seeing if the perfect buyer happens to pass by and makes me an offer I can't say no to. Thanks for your posting!

Sounds like a good plan, but maybe you should request that a mod move this to the appraisals forum if you are looking for appraisals.

Cheers

Unless it has recently changed, you must sign an exclusive contract with GreatDomains to broker your domain name(s).

Unless it has recently changed, you must sign an exclusive contract with GreatDomains to broker your domain name(s).

I had thought I remembered that my contract with them (executed over a year ago!) had a six-month term and that they were just listing me out of inertia, but Steen's posting has caused me to re-read that contract thoroughly :) and it seems that I remembered wrong:
Term This agreement shall have an initial term of 6 months from the date of execution hereof (“Term”), and, upon termination of each term hereof, shall automatically renew and extend for additional like terms unless either party shall advise the other in writing within 15 days prior to the expiration of any Term hereof of its intent to terminate the Agreement upon termination of the respective Term. GreatDomains may terminate this Agreement without cause upon providing Registrant with 30 days prior written notice of such termination.
So it is true that I am still under contract (at least until March 15, 2005) with GreatDomains. Interestingly though, I could find nothing in the agreement stipulating that GD is to be the exclusive listing agent for the name (which is what I thought). However, being under contract, I have given the right to transfer this name exclusively to GD, lol. Also, were I to accept an offer outside of GD, I would be obligated to pay them a 10% transaction fee (since they are the ones with transfer rights), GD escrow fees (required), etc.

Translation: As far as I can tell, I am not in breach of contract, but it also makes no sense to sell the name here while I am under that contract; plus, why take the chance that I'm wrong, etc. So, I will be cancelling this thread, perhaps to be resurrected during tax season :) Thanks for the posts, guys.
