Yes Mr Curly, I used to own that name, it was a hand reg for me a couple of years ago!

And guess what? I sold it last year for $60, talk about sellers remorse!
Cheer up, in case apple decides to seize it.

kithkanan,
CloudSandbox.com is a good pick

Thanks!

zurc: I've given it a thought as well but figured that I don't have the luxury of time to do it.
I guess I'll just have to sell it.

I got an offer on one of my cloud names from a legitimate end user, an American based company.

The email came from their Canadian subsidiary.

Unfortunately, it was an extremely low offer. I responded and hopefully we can begin in negotiating.

The Canadian branch has over 1m customers, 650 employees, founded in 1997, offices across Canada including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, London and Edmundston.

Their Global Headquarters is based in Virginia. They are a publicly traded company on the NYSE.

Additional offices:
  • Australia
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Japan
  • Middle East
  • Latin America
  • Brazil
  • Caribbean

  • Second-largest alternative communications company in Canada
  • Third-largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Australia
  • Fourth-largest full service carrier in Australia
  • Fifth-largest ISP in Canada
  • Fifth-largest independent ISP in Brazil
  • A leading competitive entrant in Europe

Additionally, they are partners with 23 transoceanic fiber optics cable systems and are now making headway in the European markets and the Asia-Pacific region.

So, no...I won't accept the $150 offer.

Its quite amazing what you can find out from someone's email address and a little investigative work. :):

Maybe they forgot the "k" after $150
The domain name that they inquired about fits their business model and services PERFECTLY. In all honesty, they are foolish if they walk away from this.

My response was simply, "It is hard to believe that this is a serious offer."

I no longer put the brunt of negotiation or offers on my shoulders. I put all the pressure to negotiate on them.

Lately, if they want me to price a name - I respond, "Tell me what is the absolute maximum you are willing to pay for this name and we'll go from there."

I have no problem walking away if they continue to low ball. They will be back if they really want it.

My last three large sales have all been via email. This strategy has worked exceptionally well, even for low-to-moderate valued domains.

I have closed deals for $8000 that started out at $250 and so on.

The particular name this company company wants will not sell for less than xx,xxx. And they know it is worth that much...to them or their competitor.

Whats funny is I have received two offers for my cloud domain that were more than that and I am not even expecting to get a ridiculous amount for it, just a nice ROMI.

I am not looking for a ridiculous amount (I think?) but I also regged this a while back knowing that it was going to be a huge business sector tied to cloud services.

I am dead serious...the name perfectly describes their business and its services. Should I hear back from them, I'll ask them how much do they think the name would be worth to their competition. How much do they think they would lose in traffic and revenue by letting their competitor acquire a name that perfectly describes their on-line services.

It is a genuine three-word generic cloud domain that fits their global model and services.

Two of my names in particular (already mentioned elsewhere) get at minimum weekly offers and inquiries.

The last one I got was,

How much do you want for .....com?

My response was,

It's not cheap.

Have not heard back from that tire kicker.

Sorry, bad wording on my part. I didn't mean to insinuate you were asking a ridiculous amount. What I had meant to say is that if you have a domain as good as you are claiming and getting offers from such a big company for such low amounts, it's pretty crazy that my domain (Pretty Moderate) is receiving higher amounts from what looks to be resellers.

I also find it quite laughable that they would use an email that would trace back to their company instead of using a broker to deal for the domain. Maybe they were hoping you had no idea what you were sitting on.

I have received a total of three offers on my name since I picked it up, one for $100, one for $300 and one for $350 - I have declined them all. Looking for a bit more to satisfy my taste buds ;)

Didn't take it that way. My question mark was basically a thought that I don't know what I would accept (?) but in this instance I know what I would not accept.

Personally, I hope all my domains sell for ridiculous amounts. Insane Cash! Hell, I'll even change my user name and avatar if that starts happening.

It was from (PersonsName)@(Company).ca

I am hoping to find out what this person's position or title is.

Cloudiologist.com & Cloudiologists.com

Good name for a Cloud consulting company or a department specializing on Cloud technologies at a larger company.
