It has been open for awhile now.

Any expected future for this TLD

Here we go again!!!...I have said this before and I will say again; .co will be the Colombian's extension (NOT Columbian) and we need to see it in that way, not to create or invent hack extension such as company, corporation, etc...the people in Colombia speak Spanish, very good Spanish and its population are very well educated...the patriotic sentiments are going to play very important key and if the domainers want to be successful in this extension and country, my advice is to look for good Spanish key word...

Well I tell you what- you can say it as many times as you want but the future of this extension will rely both on the use of the extension by it's nationals and by companies using it for it's .company or corp appeal. It's not an invention, it simply happens to fit... and fit damn nicely if you ask me. It's success will more likely mirror that of .tv if not exceed it. You can sit back and relax.... real domainers will be making some good change and you can sit back and say "Here we go again... I had a chance to make some nice profit but I blew."

My advice... Focus on Premium English keywords first and then some Spanish ones. Go after after words that one usually sees followed by company that would brand nicely with it such as Meat.Company or Shoe.Company etc.

I tend to agree. Those who are banking on mass adoption outside Colombia are falling for the hype once again.

It's going to be the typosquatters dream come true!

All Good names gone, I have tried to register some of one word names but all gone, even two words with high keyword search, it is too late now.

It is just like the .cm extension. Lots of people cashing in on searchers typing in and forgetting the "O" and now the "M"

Any TLD is better than .tel

Although the Colombian Constitution does not specify the Spanish as official language in all its territory, the native languages (approximately 75 dialects) are also official in their own territories.

It can be in any dialects. But i thinking the best in English and then Spanish.

Btw. Next year hit will be .om for Oman :D

it seems many of the good generics have already been snatched up.

.co is the most brandable. .CM and .OM are "double typos".

I think it will be the registry which will benefit most out of this. Like always.. Most people will never get to keep the best keywords and they will be auctioned off for thousands and thousands of dollars. And registry will profit the most out of it. It has been going on for all the TLDs introduced and this one seems to be probably the best next to .com because it can be either typo of .com and also brandable even better than .CM so being able to get top names for registration costs is a fuzzy dream for most of us. Most people will end up paying top dollars for the top names and opportunities like these are only for registry/ies and the guys with deep deep pocket. A common domainer will never be able to profit (at least not big) from the new TLDs.

It is just an unfair and corrupted game that is being played all the time.

I think you are in the wrong business. If you would own a top generic .com, would you sell it to me for registration cost? I assume not, so why should the registry do so? Also we some research you would be able to find some .CM for example at this stage which will make $1 a day. Stop complaining, start domaining.
