All the above is true, but since www.CDF.net is being used by a real company, it looks like a rare retail sale. Many if not most of the three character dot nets are unsold and unused except for parking. A fast wholesale sale requires a wholesale price allowing room for the marketing costs, holding costs (often for years) and profit and compensate for the risk that a retail customer may never come along.
