OK so from your experience... can you list all countries where they prefer their own ltd over a .com

For example in Dubai or in England... the first thing that comes to mind when we think of an online business is XYZ.COM and not the .ae or .co.uk version... My experience is as follows

UK = .com
DUBAI (UAE) = .com
PAKISTAN = .COM
INDIA = .COM

I think Russians prefer their .RU... am I right with this???

In Europe local ccTLDs are more used by local companies > the best way to signal local presence.

There are lots of people who even claim that a local ccTLD is even more valuable for a company from a major European country, than .com

.. still, .com sales prices show opposite :)

.nl is a bit tricky as teritory-wise is not a large country. Still, I would argue that .nl is more important for Dutch businesses who solely sell their services and products in Netherlands, than .com. As long as they don't start targeting other countries > then they will need .com as well. And even then, having own .nl would be a "must".

:) haven't got a clue about Vietnam

I live in the UK, and go to Netherlands quite often. Very very nice country with tall and super polite people (usually a Dutch person speaks 3-4 languages). .. I'm currently in Germany - attending Domain Pulse > here, it is all about .de .. of course, occasionally you can see .com domains and occasional new gtld.

here is an example of the official domain Leipzig.travel for visitors of Leipzig, Germany (took this photo this morning in Leipzig airport):

it is important to add, that this is rather an exception rather than commonly addapted practice :)
