Up for appraisal is геи.com. Just registered this domain. Thought it had great potential for the gay/lesbian lifestyle in russia. Have recieved 5 type-ins today with 100 percent click through. Pretty amazing for an idn really.

Let me know what you think about this domain and it's potential future.

Honestly, don't think it needs appraising. You'll soon be making so much money on this that you won't be interested in flogging it, unless someone comes up with a silly offer. Could see it going for about 5 figures in the medium-term.

Actually, I can't check to see if has been previously registered. I didn't catch it on a drop; no. I have a friend that's been giving me some russian lessons. I have regged a lot of decent slang and regular words through her. I got her interested in Idn's also and she's been picking up quite a few too.

Could see it going for about 5 figures in the medium-term.

Thanks. I was thinking about that price for an end user, and you helped me confirm this.

Any more opinions or thoughts are appreciated.

There was a surge of registrations when the testbed first got going. Many of these investors have not stayed the course, but because this stuff is not comprehensible in its punycode form a lot drop without even being noticed. Until recently when there has been a huge increase of interest again, you could get the most unbelievable stuff. About the only major Russian City I don't have as a dot com is Moscow and I have the dot net. Only found out as I chanced on Rostov dropping, decided to see if others were available. Amazingly this was the 4th November 2005!!! These were drops as the dot nets had already gone!!

For Russian cities with 2 words, is the one with hyphen better or without hyphen better?

yep. that is true. I found out the hard way myself. I went through an entire list and checked them to see it they were available, then a few hours later I went to register and most were not allowed.

That sucks after all that work and nothing to show for it. but, on the other hand you can still find domains like this.

This is a tough one:

I have Nizhny Novgorod without but St Petersburg with the hyphens. There are further complications though as St Petersburg is often shorten to just питер or Peter. Also I think spaces are permited in Russian as well as hyphens. I think I went by what the Google Searches seemed to be showing, but hypenation is common place in Russian, and the Germans at least do not have the same problem with hyphens as Americans do. Time will tell!
