hi someone has registered a name that i want but only in .com form. it is not generic to their business (in fact nobody is using the domain name). can i register the same name in .eu form or .co.uk? thanks rob

yeah you can there is no law to stop that

i am concerned that if i build my business up on it they may come and snatcht the name away from me - or even worse grab business by people going to their site rather than mine? thanks

well you just got to make sure that you get your name into peoples head i own a .info instead of the .com so far its working out the .com of course is aleady registered by someone you just got to wait until they give up the name or develop your site so it gets to peoples head

I would choose another name or buy the .com from the actual owner rather than set up a new biz on a second level ext

depending on your location .co.uk or .eu might even be better than the .com

yeah thats true it also depends on the name you are registering for instance o2.co.uk (o2 the phone company) would sound better in the uk than o2.com

What if your competitor down the road bought the .com version?! Just make an offer to buy the .com via afternic.com. It´s stupid not to own the .com if you can pick it up for a few hundred dollars. Creature.
