There have been past cases involving numerous domains that were company / product name + "sucks" and related forms of protest.

The news article is basically meaningness, since the writer of it mixes up trademarks with copyrights - two very different beasts.

Registering only a company name, in particular if it's an established tradename, with no qualifier attached (ie. sucks, avoid, is bad, ripoff, etc) is, in my view, asking for serious legal trouble.

A writers inability to distinguish legal references such as "copyright" and "trademark" does not negate the legal ramifications of the court finding itself. I would be very curious to hear the final outcome on this one.
