How much do you think my site, http://www.coolcounters.com could possibly sell for?

The site is a counter/tracking service that is free. Take a look at the example counter and example stats at http://www.coolcounters.com

Traffic and stats of coolcounters.com:
Uniques per day: 4,000 +
Impressions to site per day: 15,000 +
Users (signed up) of coolcounters: approx 33,000
Signups per day now: Approx 500+
Bandwidth per month: Approx 200 gigabytes

Every single counter shown to data (since February 2003): [Total number of coolcounters shown on all member's sites combined]: approx 18.5 million

Income:
Site has made over $1,000 a month the past 2 months.
- Not only through banner ads on the site but coolcounters e-mails a "Welcome e-mail with password" to users who signup. An e-mail text link is also placed in the welcome e-mail.

Please let me know by posting your appraisal here. I am 50/50% of selling the site. I don't want to take any offers right now though.

Things to keep in mind:
- I designed the site myself, it is totally exclusive
- The mascots for coolcounters is totally exclusive, designed by a professional artist

THANKS

I wouldnt sell.

My site makes $1K/mo and I would never sell it for $20K.

Too much room for improvement etc.

I woudlnt sell yours until i got a $50,000 offfer.

I dont see any reason to sell.

I would say the name is worth $1K-$3K

That is not the valuable part of this GT.

He has a business built on this website...

Hi,

Yes the name isn't register on Alexa because it was just changed from www.XangaHits.com

The thing is, I am in talks with a huge web blog company to be their exclusive counter service partner. The estimated uniques will increase from ~4,000 to around 20,000 a day. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to handle the traffic as I will need to do some load balancing and get another dedicated server for it.

Thanks everyone for the input though.

Alexa is weird!

I've got three sites on Alexa, each pulling nearly 2K uniques per day, that are ranked around 400K. Then I've got this new little search site (SirSpider.com) pulling about 700 uniques per day - and it gets ranked at 122K. Go figure. :-D

still - www.XangaHits.com is only at 550,000......

even my domain that gets 1500 hits per day is 110,000 place...

hmmm..... not that alexa is always right, but www.XangaHits.com should be higher than it is with that amount of traffic

Yes, I'm not sure how Alexa works at all.

I have stats to backup all my claims if you'd like to PM me.

I also had to stop Webalizer and Analog services on my dedicated server because the load/access was too high and causing the server to crash. (It would write an entry every time a counter was accessed). The stats are also off on webalizer, as I'm using a file called "counter.php" to display the counters, and it thinks its a webpage...so it prints that the site has over millions of uniques a day.

Can someone explain to me what the numbers on Alexa even mean? Why does my page view rank say 838,248 increase over 3 months. Thanks

Just a thought,

are the uniques being generated by the tracking call and not actual views of stats?

Alexa is weird, a combination of factors relate to final ranking, if visitors only pulling one file, the tracker script, then this would result in a very low page view per user and hence low ranking.

Even so user list has got to be worth cash for additional services a la bravenet and homestead.

Definately potential to bolt on services to generate revenue, think mass hosting at 9.99 a month, which with a 1% pick up rate would be an instant 3500 extra dollar a month, from a service that would cost a couple of hundred pounds a month fully managed ;-)

PM if you need help.

I recently submitted my site to Alexa...Im still unsure about how it works. However I have external tracking that is reliable which runs across most of the pages.

Thanks for the advice nuguru. The problem is I just plain don't have enough time to even think about starting hosting services. Perhaps later this year I will post my site up for sale, and will part with it if I receive some reasonable amounts. Thanks for all the feedback everyone, appreciate it.
