Accelerated panic selling hit Asia and Europe and will cause a huge flush out in US Markets this morning. This could last a few days. The good news? Our Markets cannot begin to recover until forced sellers are expelled from the Market and that is exactly what we will see unfold here. Often a Friday crash has a chance to recover by Tuesday. Only time will tell.

What we know at this point:
  • Asia and Europe Markets hit hard
  • Limit down US futures before open
  • Wild currency moves

so when is a good time to buy ?

When you have accelerated panic selling and everybody is convinced there is no bottom in sight....watch the market closely and when it starts to turn up, as it always does....thats the time to buy. You also want to keep up with every available news source that has the potential to effect the market.

The problem with all of this is that the big money guys have the inside info and we don't. What makes it even harder is that they can and will manipulate the market for their most profit. Huge buying or selling pressure can turn a stock price and they have the ability to do it....since they have access to inside info they often know before hand when a stock will be facing heavy selling or heavy buying. They can then take a position in the right direction for personal benefit. Its very hard for the small player to compete.

This is the step n.3 of this recession.

Step 1 - Financial collapse.
Step 2 - The financial crisis infect the real economy.
Step 3 - Crisis fly to orient and infect the Asia and crash the China. (now this will cause a big big problem).

Step 4 - Better drink some vodka now because the future looks bad.

Don't forget, it's also a Friday and the traders need money for the weekend, I've noticed more down Fridays than up most of the time.

dagger: Friday - not only needing weekend money.
-- When the market is volatile - some get out of the market for the fear of any bad news over the weekend.
-----------
Don't have money to invest but but I think we are close to a bottom.
DOW 8200 -- seems to have a cushon
At the same time some say if it slides past 8200 it will go to 7000

--------
As far as Gold is concerned I am betting on $500.00 or below..
That did not bottom as of now - and that will fall slowley .. even if the stock market turns back.

It's not that they need money...when uncertainty hits the mkt traders don't want to hold over the weekend because it adds risk...bad news can hit while the mkt is closed.

I find this funny. CNN and a few others are trying to make am impression that there is a huge panic in the stock markets but when you really think about it,

It opened 440 points down. It hasn't gone down (much) since then - it's been going up and down since the so really after the opening bell there hasn't been a huge spree, either way,

I am really sick of the stock market controlling the economy. Everyone suffers when these guys get greedy and screw up.

Not to mention the lovely Prez's of Iran and Venezuela announcing earlier in the week an emergency OPEC meeting in beautiful Vienna, Austria.

What's the emergency? Global demand has waned and we are not making the kazillions per day.

The plan? Cut daily production to increase prices.

The result? OPEC cartel to cut production quotas by 1.5 million barrels a day starting next month.

The pathetic part is this announcement has already started a log jam at the local gas stations. Unbelievable.

We should base our money on gold and/or silver, we used to do that. Sure, there would be a fraction of the money available but it would be worth a lot more.

What did you expect that OPEC would allow oil prices to continue to fall? Their economies and way of life are based on oil prices being high. What I find funny is they claim that if oil fell below 70 dollars a barrel that they would only break even. Yeah right.

Does anybody know what the dollar is based on currently?

Gutenburg Printing Presses.

Infidel! You dare question the word of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and President Hugo Chavez?

What banks are "allowed" (and I use that term loosely) to loan out based against a multiple of the amount of cash they claim that they have on hand?

(Described extremely briefly, that is).

It should be based on something real / solid - as in gold, silver, the country's GNP but it is not, it is based on credit and loans.

We did not see the amount of panic here that was indicated by foreign markets. Add to that limit down US futures before the open and wild currency moves and we had the ingredients for a large panic sell off. The US markets stabilized for now...only time will tell.

so when is a good time to buy ?

Market cycles are "waves". We just had a 12-15 year UP cycle, so we have a 12-15 DOWN cycle ahead.

Unless we do something stupid like devalue our currency by going deeper into debt, printing more money, forcing the interest rates lower, or doing government bailouts of those who should be in prison.

OOOPS. In that case, we could be looking at 30 years for recovery.
