Hey guys,

Just curious.
I was wondering what are the different ways of selling a high priced domain name besides someone handing you 5 or 6 figures in cold hard cash.

I know you could for example:

  • Use Escrow.com's domain holding service for domains worth $75k plus.
  • Get a partial payment every year while pointing the name to the client's site until domain is paid in full (would require a contract I assume).
  • Sell for a less desired price, but get an agreement to get 1-5% of the companies revenue for X number of years (would require a contract I assume).

Any other creative ways you can sell a highly priced name without having a buyer up front right away, but where you still get the money you were looking for spread out?

Just agree on a price and be done with it.

The suggestions you gave, Skinny, are pretty much the
core of creative financing options, in so far as domain IP
is concerned. You really don't need to know any others.

If the name is good enough, the buyer should not be too
concerned about putting down a large amount, or indeed
the full payment ;-)
