4.5 k voor sèx.com, that's a lot but then again, "sex" is special ;) .
What would héll.com and hèll.com be worth ?

btw, I think there are lot more variants on e,a,i,c,r etc. but I do agree that these special names will draw more attention in the english speaking countries :)

There are only 11 possible IDN combinations with the 3 vocals of creditcards.com on my keyb:
è-ì-à, è-ì-a, è-i-à, e-ì-à, e-i-à, e-ì-a, è-i-a, (single keys)
é-ì-à, é-i-a, é-ì-a, é-i-à (shifted é, 2 keys)
of course this doesnt make the domain more valuable i guess
anyways sèx.com went at 4.5k yesterday on ebay (didnt met the reserve) with 11 offers from 4 bidders

thx everybody for the answers

If sèx.com is worth so much, how about *.com[/B]?

sèx.com is an IDN that 'looks' like sex DOT com. But it's not.

I see so many of domains like this on the boards. These "clone" IDN's or whatever you want to call them are just a waste of time. The main reason being that in the countries that have " í " on thier keyboards, "credit cards" isn't how you say "credit cards" in that language. There is simply no possible way anyone would type it in,accidentally or otherwise.
Now if you had cartesdecrédit.com (French) or tarjetasdecrédito.com (Spanish) with the accent marks in the proper places, you would really have something. Tarjetasdecrédito.com was recently in Sedo's Spanish Top Names listings which rotate on the homepage...and I believe it sold last month for quite a bit.
That eBay "sex" .com sale was just someone preying on uninformed people..Either that or just friends playing a joke..because why would he set the reserve so high for a trash domain? He's lucky to get $20 for it,in fact there's about 25 different IDN "sex" .com's that are unregged.
The only way anyone will ever buy a domain like that is if they're completely ignorant of what IDN's really are.
Why not use IDN's the right way? There are still some great names left...in fact when translating "Credit cards" on Babelfish to reference above, I discovered cartesdecrédit.net recently dropped and I regged it!

Nobody gonna use two keys to type "ì" when it is easier to type creditcards.com.
$0.00 at the max is the resell price

Couldn't agree more! IDN has a great future. We have Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian and Hindi domains that are gaining more traffic each day. Eventually dot coms IDNs will sell for prices somewhere between dot Net prices and conventional dot com prices. The value will be for native language speakers to type-in, as you say. When domains are getting over 10 hits a day there is a lot more going on than just coincidence. Cloned IDNs are a waste of everybodies time, not least that of the jerks who are involved.

I dont agree or at least i dont understand the generalized use of the "jerk" term.
I registered at least 10 of what you call IDN clones and i am happy i did, i already recieved offers from "domain collectors" who perfectly know they are IDNs.
i am also offering some of them on Ebay clearly stating the use of special characters
i am getting also some traffic on some of them
does it make me a "jerk" ?
i dont think so
there is also one strange thing, i am tracking down the "clone IDNs" since a while and i noticed that since i posted this so discussed domain here the registration of them has increased a lot, a coincidence or there are here some "jerk" other than me ?
anyways i think i will stop posting for appraisals because i dont want anybody have a wrong opinion of myself, i just like to play with my money and domains, thats it, and i like to feel free to register whatewer name i am allowed to
somehow its useless too except if i register or aquire an high sounding domain.
i asked for appraisal publicdns.info and nobody answered me, and this stupid domain which didnt deserve any attention is getting nice traffic, maybe because the .com .net and .org are just only empty sites
any mod please close this thread if possible before it gets flamming
8-)g
regards

I am a bit of jerk myself then, owning .com, .com, .com, .com, .com,.com, .com,.com and.com ;) . No the jerks are the ones selling them with as little information as possible, praying on the unaware customer.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh if you are being responsible in the way these domains are marketed, but I really cannot see the value of these domains.

You need to be careful of traffic, as our experience shows that IDNs now attract automated traffic upto 1 hit per day, which may not be indicative of any real interest or demonstrate that anyone is actually able to type these in.
By contrast the Chines IDN equivalent of popmusic.com is attracting about 20 hits a day, and we are getting a limited amount of PPC revenue from such domains. It is also noted that IDNs is able to clear Chinese IDN with "http://www." which clearly makes type in much easier for Chinese users.

Anyway, if that load of old junk you are hawking is actually worth something, then I have no real worries with mine!

I have to admit to having one novelty domain myself, which is the diamond from a pack of cards in dot com. Can't even represent it here properly, so what bloody good it will ever be I don't know?

I find whole approach of the internet community to IDN rather irritating, especially Bill Gates refusal to intergrate IDN browsing, which has enourmously damaged the whole project. If ever there was example of the abuse of a monopoly, this is it. Any the EU seems to be cutting him down to size at last!

Why should you decide to put a scarce charater 'ì' instead of 'i'? what was your intention (not goal, of course your goal was to sell and make cash, but dont you think you were in disguise?)?

People would of course love to buy straight forward meaningful names such as *.com

???
really cant understand what u talkin about srry......
lol
i dont think you got the point about why i started this thread or why i regged some IDNs, try to read back all posts plz
about my goal i like to make cash of course, but i never tried to ripoff or trick anybody, and the starting price of my auctions was pretty low (reg and ebay fees usually), i dont own such important domains as like the ones you showing at your web site so i cant ask the amounts you asking, i am already happy when i get back the money i spend, if i get more i m happier
cant see any disguise in this.... sry

For sure ? I thought IDN-support was lacking for technical reasons, does this mean it will not be integrated in the near future ?

Sorry biggedon ;) .

IDN: only good for words in those respective languages. Otherwise, making up artificial words like the one here: $0
