Hello,

Please give me a price on CriticalNews.com

Critical can both mean important or essential (e.g. Short, compressed summaries of the top-headlines of many different news-sources)

or it could mean news that criticizes (either politics, decisions, developments or events that are worthy of critique).

Thank you all for your input!

To whoever who reads this thread:

I am new at dnforum. Am I doing something wrong here? I think CriticalNews.com is a fairly ok domain-name but I don't get any comments at all.

Should I have put a different title in or a different description of what ideas I have for the domain?

Or is it just that this domain name is so bad that nobody wants to comment? Please just drop me a line to give me a hint about what might be the problem so that I can learn and avoid it in the future.

Thank you!

Firstly don't think it's personal or necessarily reflects the quality of a name you post for appraisal. Many folks shy away from giving appraisals because of:-
1) Bad responses to their personal views in the past.
2) Being unsure of what to say about a particular name.
3) Being unsure of what to say about any name.
4) Not wanting to cause offense.
5) Thinking that appraisal threads are a waste of time.
And possibly many other reasons.

CriticalNews.Com IMO is too vague to have much value - CriticalCareNews, for example, would be more meaningful, conveying a medical slant. As it is CriticalNews has to be linked to something to be meaningful - question is asked "critical what?".
These are just my personal thoughts but that is basically all that you are going to get on the Appraisal Thread.
It would be good if more members would post in response to requests - you are not going to get a meaningful value but you may well get some suggestions on how to use it, why it's not so good, or possibly an offer if it's great!

Hope that helps :-)

Mr.Webname,

>Hope that helps
That helped a lot! Thank you! Not only did it answer my questions about this particula domain name, it also answered my lingering doubts about why my domain(s) were'n commented to the extent I had hoped for.

Thanks a lot for your explanation!

Kind regards
CoolDot

Cooldot,
your best bet IMO is to develop the domain. But that would require a lot of work, and possibly you might have to pay some companies (like Reuters) to offer last minute news on critical subjects. then again, the competition is tough.
I very much agree with Mr. Webname here, If you could focus on a certain type of critical news (i.e. mideastcriticalnews) then it would be an entire diffirent ball game.

Seeker, thank you for your advice too. I think I get the idea now. My original idea was to basically make a website that gives short summaries of the important news-stories of the day. You are saying a more specialized approach would be better. I think I tend to agree.

Thanks for your comments!

Option 2.

medical.criticalnews.com
virus.criticalnews.com
terrorism.criticalnews.com

etc, etc, etc as sub-domains of a news portal type site.

Thanks TexasFilly. Also actually getting the content will not be easy. A lot of work, but might well be worth it. I'd say it has potential and once it's branded it might well become pretty well known. But that's a LONG way from here :)

Thanks for your input though.
