I don't know much about the value of these dark names. I've got darktriangle.com and was going to use it for an adult site. Does it have a greater value for some other purpose?

Talking of dark sites - I seem to have darkopera.com as well.

Theres no value to vanity names. Anyone can go register "blue rectangles", or "green whatever"...

Its all in the development. You are asking us to appraise a name that anyone can think of and register, in other words, it is worth reg fee, unless developed.

Blue rectangles is not quite the same.

Dark = evil, without light or contrast to light.

Triangle = trinity or the shape of pubic hair etc.

So dark triangle could be the evil trinity or a girls pubic hair or a few other things.

I think I understand why I have a different view of domain names from most of you.

I think of a web site as a living thing and capable of a variety of roles. Some names are obviously commercial - cars.com, loans.com etc. But other can have different purposes, clubhouses, forums, libraries etc. Why don't all shop keepers use descriptive names - some do and some don't, it depends on the personality of the shop owner and his target market. Calling a clothes shop "tight buns" would probably get a $0 from you guys, but I saw a shop called that when I was in san francisco a few years ago, and they seemed to be making money. The same concept ought to apply to web sites, especially secondary ones.

Thats why we said DEVELOP and then sell. You DO NOT need to develop cars.com to sell, but you do need to develop darktriangle.com as a profitable business. The sale will be in the business, not the name!

Of course you make more if you develop, but you can't develop 300 sites. You can sell the idea with the name and let someone else make the main killing, but you make a small amount on each.

If you keep buying vanity names, instead of keywords and highly searched terms, you are going to have to develop them to sell...
