Database update question

Hi - i want to run a process every hour that for example adds 5% onto the "money" column for every entry in a PHP database. The % will change but that doens't matter, I just need to know how to run an hourly process. This is for an MMO my collegue is developing.

Can anyone help?

You need to set a Cron job that will run a PHP script wich will update the table.

and cron job is indeed the solution for the problem.

massive multiplayer online, to be exact. and thanks for the tip, i'll have to research that.

Be aware that if your game is real popular make sure when you move to a new server you reset the cron job.

Any database worth three cents will have scheduled execution as a built-in function. Use it, that's what it's there for.
