Do you get the impression all these places just build traffic until a certain point, and then start selling the data under some profit model? LocalWhois (free) -> Domainsbot ($$$), DeletedDomains (free) ->DeletedDomains ($$$).davezan1 said:Remember the days domain names were given free until they were charged? :-D

Think the site is great and has been. I do think however that even deciding to "get more milk" is a move in the direction I noted. I don't necessarily think its a bad thing either. Like paid domain forums, its about knowing your market. I think the extra money could even be used to make the service much better. Inevitably free->paid allows seems alarming. Now, paid->free is equally alarming. I was amazed at what Google decided to do with some of Blogger.com's membership fees.ExpireGuy said:In this case it took DD over 6 years to bide it's time. I would imagine the iNet think tank that took over the reigns for DeletedDomains in 2002, just wants to get more milk from their traffic cow.

There is almost (yes there is still some) no benefit to knowing that a name is going to delete because being early doesn't help your chances as much anymore.
