Do you guys appraise developed sites? and if so, please appraise the following...

#30 at big-boards.com for posts last week (was low twenties up until a couple days ago)

ETA: The site has custom styles and graphics on almost every forum, atleast 100+...

I'm not going to sell this site, I'm just curious what it's worth... I've received many offers for it in the past, the most recent being for around $50k.

I haven't really tried to make anything more than the cost of running it though, it's been more of a hobby than anything...

also, it's doing around 10 million impressions a month right now...
 
That's around 300,000 impressions per day. In my opinion getting $50k for a site with those stats is a great opportunity, especially since that way preceeds the estimations for its value taking the revenue it generates.

My impression when it comes to developed websites is that the value depends more than anything on the revenue it already generates, and insanely little on the potential. Of course, it's worth exactly as much as the right buyer is willing to pay, so yeah.

$50K would be roughly four to five years income. Most developed websites sell for 1-2 years revenue. The $50,000 offer would definately be worth considering unless you think the site is under performing.
 
I think it would be worth more.. if somebody took what he has and tried to commercialise it they could extract a lot more cash out of it.

I definitely think it could do alot better and has in the past when the server bills were in the thousands and it was a necessity. I've just been content with it paying for itself and haven't explored that many options.

That's how I see it as well, I just wouldn't feel comfortable exploiting it because it's my first real website and it holds great sentimental value.

i totally agree, a site's worth IS NOT strickly tied to it's current revenue (only reseller's will have you believe this). many factors need to be taken into consideration ... current traffic/potential traffic, would it fit into a network for cross promotion?, can product/services be added?, does it need upgrading to stay current?, what's the competition?, is it self sufficient?, is it optimized?, how sticky is it?, can it convert to an offline opportunity? and much more...
 
Well said. With a little tweaking it could bring in much more revenue. The value isn't soley based on it's current revenue there are many other factors to consider like namewaiter said. If this wasn't the case then a $50,000 offer would not be on the table currently.
