What is it?
1aupair.com is a system that matches families, au pairs, and au pair agencies. If you are an au pair looking for a family, you can sign up, enter your profile and then find all of the families that have a profile matching yours. The system automatically emails you when new matching profiles are added into the system. It is the same basic concept for families. If you need an au pair, you enter what you are looking for, what you expect, etc., and the system will show you the matches. Au pair agencies can create accounts and look for either families or au pairs.
The system was originally built with the concept that we were going to allow au pairs to sign up for free (they come from all over the world so getting them to pay would be hard). We started out with families paying a monthly fee in order to access the au pairâs information. For agencies we built the system so they would have to pay on a per lead basis â one price per lead for au pairs and another for matching families. Over the past couple years we just set everything to free so there has really been no revenue coming in from people using the site.
Our real business over the past 5 years has been building lead distribution systems for companies that sell leads (mortgage leads, insurance leads, etc.). We thought this would be a neat way to use some of our software in a different marketâ¦â¦.it wasnât a great fit though as we are really software people and not marketers. Over the first few years we did have several agencies that bought leads; some repeatedly. We also had several families pay for access to the site.
The site makes almost no money right now. Around $10-20/month on Adsense and those other banners. I would not recommend buying this site unless you have some ideas on generating revenue or starting to charge again for access. What I mean is, it is definitely not a killer traffic site where you just switch out Adsense idâs and collect checks. Since we have racks of servers, this thing isnât really costing me anything to maintain so if it does not sell, I donât care too much. I just figured I would post it here in case somebody wanted to run with itâ¦â¦it has potential, but that is a nasty word!

If you are interested in buying the site you can just sign up as a family or an au pair and then see what those admin sections look like. They are both fairly robust and allow users to do all of the functions that the other major au pair sites have (as of when we built this obviously. I have no idea what has changed since then).

1600-2200 visits a month (6000 to almost 1200 page views a month)
It looks like the traffic has gone up a little in the past two months and I have no idea why. We do 0 advertising so it must be search engine traffic.
