I recently sold algomarket.si domain, but I’m kind of regretting and seriously considering buying it back before it gets more expensive.

The more I think about it, the more use cases I see across quant firms, crypto, fintech, and AI-driven markets.

What would you build on a domain like this? And do you think buying it back would be a smart move, or am I overthinking it?

You are probably not overthinking it, but buy-back math is unforgiving. The person who bought algomarket.si likely paid because they saw the same use cases you see now, so today's ask is your sale price plus their optimism, and you end up negotiating against yourself.

The test I use is whether I can name the buyer, not the category. Quant firms, crypto and fintech are categories, and categories do not sign invoices. If you can name a specific company or founder and guess their budget, buying it back can be rational. If all you have is a feeling that it will be worth more later, the same money is better spent on names you can pitch this quarter.

Before you decide, look at what the extension is actually doing. I keep a rough record of .si end user sales and the market is thin but real, so timing usually matters more than the name itself. A polite direct offer to the current owner, before they list it anywhere, is normally the cheapest way back in.
