I process all applications personally and I've been traveling. I've just arrived in my hotel here in Amsterdam and I'm getting caught up.

Please keep in mind that sell applications rarely get approved. Our main business is loaning money so don't expect retail sales out of me.

Once sent me an email on one of my domains listed at GreatDomains , email stated "we want to lend you money on your domain" , then I had to sign up as a member to access the offer , filled out the form and became a member to do so , input the domain for review that "they contacted me on" and next day I get a reply , sorry we don't see where we can loan you money on that domain. BAD BIZ practice Mr. Latona , there are a lot of members on this forum that aren't going to put up with this kind of crap , including me!

Unfortunately, my marketing team doesn't know how to determine values as well as I do but they are getting better. I apologize but that was an expected and acceptable event from our perspective.

Our customers are happy. All we have to do is have money to loan them and not screw them over and we've done what we are supposed to do. If I use direct marketing to email you or annoying sound banners it's irrelevant. If someone needs money they'll do business with us and my job is to get noticed so they know we are an option.

I agree with Rick searchsix, and I think you're being a little harsh calling his service "crap". He may not have the most knowledgeable marketing team in the world, but he is providing a service that I can see being useful for several people. even those in this forum. Sometimes a great new idea comes to a person or a domain somehow becomes immediately available or for sale and a person might need that extra cash to close the deal. So it is very disengenuous of you searchsix to call it "crap".

With that said,

My advice to you Rick would be to actually hire a team that is familiar with the industry. The domain industry can't be learned overnight. Value of a domain can not be known from it just being a TLD or a ccTLD. You risk losing some great names and loaning to bad names. A professional domaineer knows that its not all about traffic (hence why 3 letter dot coms with x,q,z,y, still sell for $2K plus) and it's not always about the name. It's a whole spectrum of things to consider. Waiting for professionals to handle the endeavor might have been worth wild. Just my advice IMHO. Though I may be mistaken and your crew are professional domaineers.

avalon426 , excuse me? disengenuous? This guy spams a whois list from greatdomains then tricks them into signing up for a membership , which by the way you can list your domains for sale where he gets a cut. The original email coming to the list reads "we WILL loan you money on your domain" , then they tell you your domain can't be held as collateral so SORRY , CRAP!

I received the same email about 2 Domains I own, I was already a member at DP so I simply replied to their email, never did hear back from them/anyone... been like over a week now, I honestly didnt expect to get a reply... to me it was just one of those emails, you know the kind.

I also agree with S6

Maybe over time we'll get to hear about a domain that was pawned and how much for -- then the domain gurus will have something tangible to discuss. I'm looking forward to some real life scenarios on valuations of domains for pledge.

it's a thin line between direct email marketing and spam.
What I think some people are saying here is that they got spammed.
and unfortunately it sounds like they did.
nevertheless, the concept of the business itself is sound, and probably useful.
would love to hear from people with actual experience with digipawn (well, we've heard a few, but some more in depth experiences would be great).

From what I recall, cannabis.com was approved, but I was never told for how much ... a ballpark number would have been an incentive for me to consider signing up as a member, etc; not going to signup to have my email addresses spammed even more for nothing in return, but I digress.

In a nutshell, I've had a mixed experience so far - domain (cannabis.com) approved, but not sure for how much; an informal ballpark number (5-figures, 6-figures, ???) alone would be a great help.

Profitable ecommerce websites yes, but domains alone I don't think so. All pawn loans are pennies on a dollar. Lol. For something like domains, this is even more the case.

Examples:

$10-50 for a three letter .net
$100-500 for a three letter .com
$1,000 for something like RiverboatCasino dotcom, Lakeshore dotcom
$10,000 for something like SaltLakeCity dotcom
$50,000 for something like Bags dotcom

Just my thoughts though.
