sorry chief,

no inherent value for a .ws period, the hyphen makes it even worse.

$0, unless developed into the best digital camera site ever.

Prepare for an onslaught of zero to reg fee valuations. With the hyphen and .ws extension it would be extremely difficult to sell. Doesn't mean you couldn't develop it to try to build some value.

P.S. I see Front Row posted while I was writing (and cofirmed what I was saying). I would avoid hyphens on virtually all domains but especially on .ws which already faces an uphill battle.

Only thing you would generally touch a hypen on is a .com .. rarely anything else.

I'm new to these forums.

What makes a .ws so bad as compared to a .biz, .info, or .us??

I understand the hyphen think but I buy hyphenated domains for SEO advantages (while the advantage may be very small, any little bit helps).

Hyphens pretty well kill reseller value. If you are going to develop the domains yourself and think you are going to get some search engine advantage they might be worth registering for your own use.

What's wrong with .ws is that it is the country code extension for Samoa. Unless you are running a camera shop in Samoa it doesn't make much sense. GoDaddy is trying to market it as meaning website (their idea, not ICANN's). You could try to do the same, again if you personally were developing the site. It would take a lot of work (as effective marketing always does) but that is the only way to go.

You won't make any money buying names like this to resell. What is different about biz info and us is that biz and info are official global extensions recognized worldwide (or at least beginning to be - they are still very new). .US is the offical country code for the world's largest market - The United States (a different kettle of fish than Samoa!)

.ws (Western Samoa) is sometimes used for "website" ... it is another little used domain and not in much demand. The hyphen is little valued by resellers so with the low-profile extension and the hyphen, value is very poor.

.biz, .info, and .us are all establishing themselves now, whilst .ws might in the future, it isn't anywhere near established yet.
