For golfers, the most important data really is the distance to the pin. Every hole this calculation is made at least one time (and for me several as I hack my way up the fairway). Now, you can buy GPS-like devices that give you the distance, but they're an added gadget, and pricey. My feeling is that golf distance measurement will soon become consolidated as a service to the cell phone. Moreover, there are generally 4 cell phones in every foursome; one per body. So there will be no need for another device.
