If a person is willing to pay $45k for something (assuming it is a legit offer) then that means they really want it and have a business plan for it.

You're missing the point.

First of all, i indeed sold domains for way more than 1/20th of 45k (not too difficult); don't know what my sale prices have to do with it anyway.

The point is : Overnegotiating might result in the buyer backing out and chances are you never get an offer like this a second time, no matter how great the domain is in your own eyes.

And just because someone is really interested in a domain doesn't automatically mean they're willing to pay much more than what they're currently offering.Might be they change their mind over night and decide to register an available name for $9.99 and spend the $45k for offline ads or something else.

Times are gone where a company HAD TO have a certain name no matter how much it costs.

Last but not least - if it's about the DJ/music scene i can tell you that although DJ.net is a nice name for DJ's or a techno-label i highly doubt any label/artist/DJ etc. would be willing to pay a price like that "only" for a domain.

So if the potential buyer is coming from that background, this indeed might be the one and only exception.
