DNF sales & demand shows signs of slowing down...

Not really. However, there is an increase in the offering of LLL com/net's with unreasonably high (for a domainers' forum) expectations. To complete high-end 5 digit sales, one has to turn to the private sector.

Probably due to the fact that most offer have very low interest, like dot info names or short dot com names that are unreadable.
The buying demand is in the dot com of quality!

Agree here.

But if you compare to the past couple of months, there are much less interest and completed sales in .biz .net .info extensions now as well.

Also we can see posts like "LLL.net > offers from $200" with only and highest bid of $500 .... fact.

Are resellers ran out of $?

I feel any slowdown is strongly related to the fact most names without traffic stats are valued so very low and almost impossible to sell for more than xx and even at xx tough to sell.

A few yrs ago traffic was no where near as important as now. In fact, I remember not terribly long ago when brandable names with no traffic were actualy popular at the forums, and most of us did not know what typeins or traffic was!

Another reason sales could be slowing here is because so many offerings are non-com extensions and the com (and a lesser degree org) are the primary extensions which can get good direct navigation traffic.

In addition, if you want to sell your portfolio to some of the very big buyers all they are interested in buying is strictly com's, and mostly com's which either have proven traffic now and ones earning verified revenue, or 1-2 word high value com's without stats. Trust me on that.

The forums are not the only selling venue for experienced sellers. Furthermore, more and more sellers decide not to disclose their private sales outside of DNF, myself included. It's not a game of golf, it's business. I find that more buyers e.g. companies require NDA's to be signed, some negotiate directly and some trust 3rd party brokers or escrow services.

I beleive people here are killing the market! when the wholesale price for XXXXXX.XXX domain is being $$$ and people are selling @ $$$/2 I beleive this is what hurts us all!

imo... it's a good thing if sales are slowing, because that means that sellers are holding fast to their price.

either sellers will lower prices or buyers will offer more $

which do you think will happen first?

still, there are plenty of sales going on via pm that many never know about

I do NOT think this is the key factor and it is not related to the overal slowness. Looks like current players/members ran out of money paying increased prices for their names over the last few years. Does the market need some fresh blood/dollars? :?:

This market, like any other market, always thrives on 'fresh money' coming into it. No doubt we all hope that this will be soon, and with the surge in advertising revenue this will undoubtedly be the case as private conversations I have had with several advertising agencies both here in the UK and in the US indicate that it will soon be better for them to buy a domain outright and develop it rather than look at spending money on adds on other peoples websites.

Today I was running through my figures, and looked back at names I've sold over the last 18 months. I winced at some of the names I've sold for $xx months ago.

I've got to the point where I will not sell anything for the sake of turnover - rather renew for a few years and play the long game.

Sure, there are some names I won't renew - but the keepers are just that, until I can realise their value...

Every market has its up's and downs. Its all a cycle. The weak will bail out right before the market turns back around. Its only a matter of time. I have completed several high dollar sales within the last few weeks.

I think we're making this more complicated then it is. There's always a slowly down every year starting in late April till usually after labor day. People go away, people travel, people spend time with there families more. It's the travel season and that always touches our industry. I usually don't post alot of names for sale around these times as it's slow on all boards- particularly dnf.
