Do all of these bloody new ext's make .com more or less valuable. Perhaps the same?

So, here with go .Asia in the future, will that take something away from .com, eventually when people discover they can register xxxx.asia,.mobi.pk, etc. will they then go away from the need for a .com? Or is it .com that will hold the public's eye for many more moons? Will .com be the go to ext regardless? Will it ever get waterdown by simple supply and demand? It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. I have diversified my portfolio to include as many cctlds as I can think of. I think a part of it depends on the education of the public, the marketing of the new tld's to the average person, and the development of the website with tld's other than .com...Your thoughts?

well, i cant see anything wrong with .asia, as it would be something like .eu in the first place.

Unlike the EU Asia is not an integrated political block so .asia does not make more sense than .nafta to me ;)
I suspect that most Asian countries prefer using .com or their own TLD and .asia is an optional add-on for multinational corporations at best.
Again I don't really see the raison d'être for that TLD but end users rule

The question is really not about .asia specifically but really all of these new tld's.

I think as the ccTLDs become more established, com will start to take on a more International basis. This includes the US, as search goes more local, pushed along by .mobi or /mobi and small business acceptance of the geographical qualifier (.us) imo
