Vaxxis
Halvarez
BenFranklin
Bonkers
SaggyDimes

are in most of my auctions (and I don't win a lot...)

I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but it wouldn't be difficult. All it would take would be two people to know the truth, one guy tells the other what the high bid is and keeps pumping it up. If he does happen to win it, they pay the guy back under the table and in a few years he transfers the names. Highly dangerous and unlikely IMO.

Snapnames has confirmed to me that several of the big players are using snipe bidding software to circumvent the proxy bidding process, and that they approve of it. The people you are talking about may be fast asleep while the software incriments the bids all day long.

This also explains why they extend auctions a full day if things get slow at auction close time -- the big bidders need to reset their sniping software.

How do you guys feel about this? Does this produce a fair auction?

:(

DaddyHalbucks,

You have been around here longer than me. How could you dig up this old
thread and make me read it again.

Complaining about the "bots" is like complaining about the rain. There is nothing
you can do about it.

The other solution is create your own "bot". However, I would be careful who creates
the "bot" since it could screw up and you will own DaddyHalbucksSucks.com for
$ 100,000.

And, then, Nelson will send out a letter saying that they have to start the
bidding all over again.

Then, Denny007 will pay $ 200,000 for it. Fortunately, he will make
a 50% ROI on it.

(I'm just teasing you guys.)

A side note - I love the chutzaph of the bidder who decided to use the
bidder name - BuyDomains.
