Please I want the Gurus here to help appraise my two new domains MegaHamper(dot)com and MegaHampers(dot)com
Cheers.

I don't think either of them make sense. What is the domain supposed to target?

To me, "hamper" has two meanings.

1) a laundry basket
2) to disrupt or be an obstacle

Neither of those meanings is particularly enhanced by adding "mega" to the front, though they are not necessarily nonsensical either. It all depends on what you were thinking when you registered them.

If you were thinking about flipping them, I am fairly certain you'll be disappointed.

In the UK, they are similar to gift baskets, either way your target audience is in the UK, and the domain is not generic in itself to have value, unless developed out.

What about Hamper(dot)com,Hamper(dot)co.uk, and Hamper(dot)co.za, also go to amazon and search for hampers and see what will result be.

According to Collins dictionary Hamper means:

  • a large basket, usually with a cover
  • (British) such a basket and its contents, usually food
  • (US) a laundry basket.

Secondly,

  • to prevent the progress or free movement of whatever
noun

  • (nautical) gear aboard a vessel that, though essential, is often in the way

But when you visit the sites above one can realize what MegaHamper and MegaHampers should be used for.
Though it requires brading to make it known to the world, but when done with it one will make lots of cash.

Then (dot) com is a global extension that can be access by world market and not Geo for only restricted location

Cheers.

Biggie, I am intimidated by your experience, but I want to be convinced if you are not considering US english meaning only on this issue; because hamper are taking very serious as a special gift in these geo location of Britain, Africa and Australia. Well, like I have said based on your experience, I want to dance to your tune. But I intend to develop the domain for hampers/gift shopping.

Cheers.

rule 1. never be intimidated

rule 2. dance to the beat of your own drum

i did however, only consider US market and simply visualized the use of/for "hampers" thruout my lifetime.

thus, the comment. :)

may be a coincidence, but the other day i saw a commercial, where the wife moved the 'hamper' a little closer to the bed, so her husband wouldn't keep throwing his clothes on the floor. afterwards they showed a look of amazement on her face when it worked.

of course the ad was not about hampers, but about some other product....maybe geico or something

in the geo areas you spoke of, "hampers" may be a popular item to have.

so you may know more than i

Good Luck!

Ok! to further butress my point; I wish you can visit ezinearticles(.)com and search for articles on hamper you will find more than 2000 write-ups, and there are many sites about gift hampers and that is why I think having megahamper(.)com and megahampers(.)com, to use one and redirect the other one could be a good try.
Above all, I know the market is very lucrative year in year out; one can give gift/hamper at any time for so many reasons and that is why I want to develop the site for gift hampers shopping.

Thanks for your contributions

Cheers.

You really don't need to convince anyone here, the term is vague in North America, more apparent in your part of the world. You need to develop the domain, otherwise it has little value, most domainers never do this, otherwise you have to sell the potential to someone, not likely anyone on this forum cares to undertake such a project.
