I got a couple people (strangers) who want to buy this name. I'd rather sell it to a fellow forum member. Anyway, what's it worth?

I don't mean to insult the name (because it is very good) but I doubt the makers of dog treats are willing to spend over $5000 on a domain name...

however, my earlier post was only reseller pricing...you could get up to $5000 from an enduser

Why not? Dog treats is a big business and the players are often substantial firms. The walmarts and supermarkets are heavily stocked with dog treats. Food for pets is huge.

P.S. Just looked at my dogs treats in the pantry and they are made by Purina, Master Foods and DelMonte, very large and wealthy firms, where $5,000 for a domain is little more than petty cash.

I have to agree!

read: 2003 pet stats

"The APPMA's reported the following breakdwon for the areas in which money is spent on pets (2003 figures for the US)

$13.7 billion for food"

Pet owners are CRAZY! I know, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats ;) :-D

Great name! Good luck with it!

I think a 15B industry can spark 15K for the ultimate advertising tool.

hmm, that might be true, but I still dont consider DogTreats.com to be up there in the 5-figure range...

but go ahead, prove me wrong...

it seemed like StocDocter wanted to know what he could get on this forum judging by the opening post of this thread...and I think a couple thousand is reasonable

As I always suggest with this type of excellent but niche name, get a site up and get some ads on it with perhaps a pet forum - get some traffic - wait a year and get the $15,000 at least that I think it would then be worth.

If you're unloading it now, I'd put it at $8000 end-user.

We just got a puppy and I'll bet my wife has already spent a billion dollars on treats.......you know why people spend so much? Because they try 3-5 different flavors, thinking the dog really cares about which one tastes the best!!!

Great name.........I'd say $5000+

A dog treat is like a great domain name, you just dangle it over their heads until they can't stand it......and eventually they'll jump up and grab it!!!!

I have a St. Bernard and she's fussy about flavour, size, consistency etc. but always goes for the expensive treats. Roast beef offcuts no less. We must have at any one time, 10 different boxes and packets. I'm starting to wonder if they taste as good as they look because by the time she's eaten me out of house and home, I had better be used to canine food :clown:

The dog treats market is huge. The more I think on this domain the more I like it.

Thanks for all the opinions and pms. I had picked up DogTreats and PetTreats in drops around the same time about a year ago or more me thinks. DogTreats has now been sold and I'm getting offers now on PetTreats too. That one looks like it will be sold today too. Surprised at the interest in those names.

Doc, can you give an insight as to what you sold dogtreats.com for? Cheeky question, but I'll risk it...

The initial owner of those two domains must be cringing right about now!

I can't, but you can ask the new owner.
