Hi
Newbie to all this – hope someone can help…
Can anyone explain the process of buying a domain name on behalf of someone else?
The reason I ask is that I’d like to design a few sites for other people and offer a free domain name as an incentive to generate interest and take away the hassle of my clients having to do it themselves and also make it easier for me to set up their finished site.
I know that I can register the name on their behalf and put them down as the legal owners but what happens if they want to change their details (address etc.)? Do I have to do it via the agent I use to register the name or will they have to do it themselves?
Also, what happens when it comes to renewal? Do I have do it through the agent I used or do they do it? If they do, then won’t they need the login details of my account?

Hope this all makes some kind of sense
thanks…

I would just set up a new account at the registrar with a different email and passwords and not use my existing account if you just want to have them in your name, the email you put into the whois when registering will be the contact email and all corresponding emails from the registrar will go to that email , if you put the clients email , name and address then they will have to also have the passwords to the account to renew when the time comes , of course you can also renew the domains because you also have the passwords to the account , unless they change the passwords , then they are locking you out.
