Looking for someone to provide me some tips on catching deleting domains. I have been using Snapnames, Pool, and Enom for a while now but I'm looking for another way to catch these names.

Im sure there must be someone around here who has some tips. Almost everyday some of the domains on the Pool hotlist etc. are not caught by any of these companies so someone must be getting them.

I noticed that both Moniker and Pool seem to have many registrars ( all with very similar designs, only different names). I'm thinking that by opening several of my own registrars I will be able to compete with them directly.

What do the rest of you on this forum think? I know most will say to just stick with the top drop catchers, but instead of paying them thousands of dollars each day wouldn't it be much more cost effective to create a similar business as they have?

I have looked into it. Here are some things I found out....

The only domains you would be able to try and get are "True Drops", which there are some good ones, but Not the best.

You will need about 2-5 Registrars to compete and a heck of a script writen.
It will end up costing about $100K for a registrar X's 2-5 ='s $200K-$500K
Plus you need a large sum of capital.
Then you have your script and for a great one, could cost $10K + or a heck a lot more.

Snapnames has about 20-30 registrars
Enom has about 10-15 registrars
Pool about 5-10 registrars
etc...

Major registrars will send their expiring domains to auction, for example expiring names at network solutions now end up at namejet. Obviously the best names will be sold to the highest bidder. Saying that, not all registrars work with dropcatchers so there are still interesting names dropping every day but I agree they are probably not the best.

The remaining names that are not backordered will be caught by the tasters who will keep the best performing names in terms of traffic.
Setting up your own registrar costs money and you need more than one to really compete with snapnames and the tasters. If you have a sound business plan you can still approach a few registrars and team up with them.

I think you're better off spending your money on higher priced quality dropped names at the major drop services now than spending it on starting your own registrar. Remember you only have to pay for a name once but get to reap its rewards indefinitely.

If you search the daily upcoming drop lists at NameJet, SnapNames, TDNAM, and Pool you should have most of the market covered. The hardest part is finding good tools to sort through the massive lists.

I just took care of this problem and launched www.LazyMate.com it's a tool I used "privately" but decided to offer it and for Free.

Just download the lists via the auction houses, delimit them via excel to remove the "extras" and run them threw Lazy Mate and you will find the best of the best via the Quick Search.

I set the system up, that you can put input YOUR own database (domain list) and search it how you would like etc.

It can take domain lists of 50K domains, but I had a couple timeout issues when I did that, but it does work with that large of a list. It works best with in the range of 20K domains.
