I have seen a few cases where the expiration date on verisign's database does not match up with what the expiration of what i paid for and see in my account. It is off by a year. Any ideas whats the deal?

So you gained a year without paying?

No i paid for more years and got one less. But I just checked and the way the delt with it was to take off the year in my account and not credit me.

There seems to an issue with regging up to 2017. Is there a cut off date that verisign has in 2017?

Are you saying you lost 1 year and they did NOT credit your method of payment (cc, paypal, Account Funds, etc).

Exactly. I regged until 2017 which showed in my account as the exp date. I called and said that the verisign database showed 2016 then i check back and my acct shows 2016 and i got no credit.

You can't register a com/net/org domain name for more than 10 years (including the day/month, e.g. if today is December 4, 2007, it can't expire December 15, 2017) at present. If for some reason it goes past that date (e.g. a domain expiring in 2017 is transferred to a new registrar), the extra year does not get added (you still get charged for the "service" of changing registrars, though, i.e. the transfer).

This has happened to me in the past, but I ignore it --- the domains are registered the full 10 years because they are extremely valuable. If I had my choice, VeriSign wouldn't get the $6.42, but I'd rather have the domain name at the safe registrar of my choice.

You check the Invoices and how much you were charged and for what?

Did you print an invoice?
take a screen shot?

George it was not a transfer, it was a renewal as my name was already there. I keep very detailed records and know i paid up to 2017. I will contact them again tomorrow.

George I think that occurred to me that by regging over 10 years even if the system allows it causes problems.

As for 2017 i have names regged up to middle of 2017 but the later months seems like there is a glitch.

If you did bulk renewals in June or whatever (i.e. before the prices went up from $6 to $6.42), what probably happened is that some names should have only been registered up until 2016, instead of 2017, otherwise it would have gone over the 10 year limit.

I'm not 100% sure what happens in that scenario, but if the registry didn't charge Moniker, you should get your dough back.

I have to check my record of when i did the renewal etc. I will update the thread and give the result.

Just short bits: you can register a new domain name currently up to 10 years,
and renew an existing one up to 9 years. Hope you get your billing thing fixed.

Moniker's control panel is messed up.
Many of the expiration dates differ by 1 year from what they actually are.
Moniker has messed up their business. I will leave as soon as find another registrar.

This is a common issue and involves registry syncing with their data base...it is NOT a moniker control panel issue.

dvdrip - we have already told you that affilias had a sync issue and it was fixed. are you saying you are still having an issue?

Of course I am still having the problem and I am having other problems that you haven't fixed. Credit card issues as well. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! I get one failed transaction after the other...

Your email still says that you will be gone until the 3rd. It is the 7th today.

Let's see what I found today in my account.
80 domains in my account had "lost" their nameservers!!! All were INACTIVE.
220 domains were unlocked.
1 domains that was transfered last month in still there. That is a .net.

I will look at the expiration dates tomorrow. I guess I will find some other "common" issues, Monte.

Is anybody else having Moniker Issues?

I have been using moniker without a single issue for at least a year.

The only issue I have is that their email support isn't up to par.

@dvdrip I just logged in and again I have nothing to complain about. I wonder how a single account can get so "buggy".

Also I forgot to mention that moniker is holding about $6000 from my credit card for 2 weeks now.
I tried to fund the account and my credit card declined without any reason. Then I found out that moniker had some communication problem with their credit card processor. The result was that although my funds were not actually charged, they were put on hold for 2 weeks. Moniker had to just call they credit card processor and tell them to clear this up. They didn't manage to do it, so funds will clear on their own in about 4 days from now.

All I hear from moniker it's xxxxxx fault and it's xxxxxx fault but they do absolutely nothing to fix anything. It's never moniker's fault. And they never admit having a problem.

I was using moniker without major problems too. But in the past year support is deteriorating. Now they reached a new low.

I have been using moniker without a single issue for at least a year.
