If I have a domain name www.xxxxx.com that has a google Page rank 4, and then implement permanent 301 redirect from www.xxxxx.com to zzzzz.xxxxx.com, when will zzzzz.xxxxx.com receive PageRank 4, instantly or ??

It does not receive it instantly. I had a pr5 domain and did that while still using www.xxxxxx.com for other usage. I think it was roughly 2 months to get there. But it jumped from 0 to pr2 in a weeks. Then to pr4 in a month or so. This was 2 years ago so algorithm may have changed.

The true Page rank and trust rank itself is updated constantly. If you're talking about the public page rank most people talk about, that is updated every few months or so. However I'd look more at your site's SERP ranking more than PR.

would the same be applicable to this situation?
I have a pr6 www.xxxxxxx.com (10+yr old domain) want to do a 301 to a new domain www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com (<5yr old domain) (after the content is transferred from flat html to wordpress) as I want to use first domain for a different project. Would the PR transfer (and/or should I do the redirect in small increments, ie redirect a few pages every week or so)
Thanks

@inquisitive, I think you should redirect first to second one straight away in full, with 301 redirect, but if you do that how do you plan on using first one for a different project, when it is being redirected?

@Dirty SEO, yeah I am talking about the public PR, so what I need is to transfer main domain to a subdomain, and I need HighPR on subdomain to be seen in toolbar.... So I would need to wait for update few months puhh, too long. I tought since it si redirect from domain to subdomain, it might update it in 2 weeks or even less maybe
