what does it take to actually start a domain parking service. Must be a very profitable business because it is all revenue sharing. Server and maintenance fees being the biggest costs.

Seems like very high competition already, to the point where the big players can command better ad revenues because of there traffic power.

You will want to have a large amount of internal traffic or domain portfolios agreeing to support this new service.

You will then need to Make advertising agreements with a search provider and contextual.

Then develop software for tracking and optimizing your parked domain names.

Test. Test. Test.

Then you can start a campaign to acquire new domain holders!

It's not an entirely crowded industry yet, although there aren't all that many domain holders with good traffic either.
