Hey all,
I've been into domaining for 5-6 months now and have learnt quite a bit.

However one thing I still haven't learnt much about is how to make money via domain parking.

What tools should be used, and how should they be used, to find 'good' domains which should earn revenue from parking?

Any tips would be appreciate :) At the moment, I only have one domain that earns any steady revenue on parking (and even that's only $0.xx per day); any tips on how best to find good domains to park would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks a lot,
Tristan

well, do you really think someone will share the secret with you?

ask DCG, he will have all the answers to your questions. The rest of us are only following the lead.

Yes, there are some friendly members here...

I have done - although I'd imagine he's too busy?

Hence why I'm asking for tips here. :)

It's like looking for all the peices of an old treasure map...

Just think "nine months" ago... how much were you were making from domains?
Now you make $0.XX per day! That is progress maybe small but it can be measured.

Here's a tip

learn how to read "in between" the lines

read the domains wanted section, for what buyers are looking for

read the sales section, to see what is selling

year after year, these types of names are wanted, along with new items and services that come on the market.

as for tools, I've never really used tools except for things like overture, google and marketleap on occassion.

daily newspapers have been resourceful

Hey biggedon,
Sure thing, thanks a lot for the tips :) And good point - I can see that I'm making progress (albeit small progress) :)

I guess if I learn to read between the lines more there is a lot of info waiting to be gathered - I've already picked up quite a few parking-related tips just from reading random posts here :)

Thanks,
Tristan

well, $.xx/day
that will surely put you into positive cashflow for that domain ;)
If you want to find unregistered domains that generate more than that, it's not impossible, but, not easy.
You probably have to buy if you want domain that gets more than that per day.

However, you can find and register 1,000 domains that makes $.50/day and you are talking about $175,500/year after $7,000 registration fees deducted:eek:

$.50/day per domain is nothing to laugh at :)

Yep, a .50 cent a day domain is a keeper - it will also help pay for others not earning revenue. Think of it that way.

But here is a tip - have you tried moving your domains to another parking provider? Some domains just do better than others at each parking company. Try a one month trial with each domain at various parking companies. It can be a pain, but it can also be rewarding. I moved a quarter of my .ca's from one company to another and their revenue shot up 500%! Give it a try - you might be happy you did.

Hi Roy. Could you PM me with that company or post it here? Whatever you wish.

Great advice.

You might try finding nice traffic sites & from those, try registering your own typos. My very best are typos of: pornaccess & mapquest. Try to figure out what folks might type-in.

And the ideas above are super! Think outside the box.

There is still a lot of opportunity & believe me, income producing names are out there as new registrations. As the saying goes, you have to find your nitch. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips all - they're really useful :)

And good point about the $0.xx per day domain - I guess it is pretty good going for a hand reg :)

Roy have you tried parkingpanel? I was at parked.com moved my domains to parkingpanel and am making 2-3 times on each domain...

I have yet to try them, but I have a few rotting at ND so maybe I'll shift them over there. - thanks!

Another tip; if you have domains that doesn't get enough traffic then you should try building minisites that will earn from advertisements such as adsense/YPN (PPC), affiliate programs, banner/popup programs (CPM) and selling links.

Proper setup, keyword-rich minisites get's "extra" traffic from search engines. You can also freely promote minisites not like parked domains that aren't allowed to be promoted by domain parking programs. There are a lot of cost-effective methods nowadays to build instant minisites or you could hire someone capable to do the bulk work with basic SEO and promotion so this would be easy.

This is just another way to monetise domains without natural direct navigation traffic.

Good luck

Thanks for the tips guys. I've a name that's making $0.77 per day and I will definitely play around with the suggestions posted here.

Thanks again.

They give 100% revenue, and the profits really shoot up with that.

One thing i've learned from over the last year is that it takes time for this stuff to start to bear fruit. An example, last year I hand regged a domain name and parked it, and it got maybe 5-7 type-ins a month. Nothing too impressive, right? Well I was getting sometimes 2 or 3 clicks a month of these type-in's and these were high paying keywords (once I got a click that paid $3.50!). Anyway, over time the domain got crawled and indexed by both yahoo and google, and now I am starting to get referral traffic from actual search terms which is adding another 10-20 uniques a month, and this domain is now making up to $10 a month steady income. So now this has turned into a nice little income producer. The main thing I learned here though is don't be too impatient as it takes time.... almost a year in this case with this domain. But the end result is that I now have a keeper domain making money. And if parked pages ever get to the point where you can actually SEO them, this domain might move up even further in position and for more keywords, which will mean more traffic and revenue. So who knows?

It is giving a Service Unavailable error. However, I am really curious that if they give 100% revenues, then how do they make their money?

the 100% revenue share is a limited time offer. But is for the lifetime of your account if you signup and begin parking with them. From what I've read on the FAQ :D
