Domain Software needed for Organizing

Can anyone suggest a software for organizing my domains?
I am using excel sheets now, and it is getting out of hand.

Also, DomainResearchTool has some sort of domain management feature.

WatchMyDomains grabs data automatically from whois, so you just have to enter the domain.

People have used it and do like it. It is an Excel spreadsheet but offers a lot, sorting, revenue tracking, etc...

I have been using spreadsheets for years but I find them cumbersome for a lot of data.

Someone needs to create a database driven program.

I'm reluctant to use DNZoom since it is controlled by domainers.
It is too easy for datamining and security breach.

I'm looking for something that might be based on MS access.
Eventhough, I haven't used access in years.

And, something that is on my computer. Not on someone elses server.

I'm looking for something that does all that the spreadsheet offers but does additional things like
look at ppc revenue over different periods of time.

Any other programs out there?

it seems like some folks are looking for programs to run on their own system, while others are using online solutions. Which is preferable?

I'm not a real fan of "on line" solutions simply because your info is in the hands of other domainers! Supposed you have niche names. This could easily be gleaned from your portfolio composition and the owners of these sites could pursue names in your niche. I prefer a stand alone solution that's on your own PC.

that's a fair point, although i'm not so sure that assumption is right. Does an online solution really have to be run by domainers? i dunno, but i imagine that anybody who's prepared to do the work to do the necessary research should be able to put up a decent solution?

A related question: does this mean also (except perhaps for the "big boys" - sedo, perhaps?) that u dont trust parking programs very much?

I'd like to see either a desktop version or browser version that would be based on your own server. I like the spreadsheet idea but it would be better to have the software output a spreadsheet for you if you want it. I'd like the software to have all the domains with registrar, expiration date, cost, revenue, traffic, profit, loss, and for people like me with huge content networks, I'd like to input my hosting cpanel info.

That way I can open the software, click a link and login to the cpanel and update the website, etc.. With cpanel input you could have it pull your traffic stats as well and give you traffic stats.

Even Pagerank, indexed pages, would be a good addition.

Hmmmm.. maybe it's time to get the staff to start programming.. lol, like we don't have enough going on..

You said it right first, I'm merely making a point. I'm not assuming they do this, only pointing out the possibility. How could you possibly create an online solution for domaining if your not a domainer? That they are domainers is almost a given. I don't get your point about the work to do the research.

With regard to parking programs, that entire business is a completely different revenue sharing business model with little incentive to get into buying domains, however, I am all but certain it happens in this arena to some extent too.

In the end, no matter what direction you take, there are always the positives and the negatives.

I find that using a spreadsheet is the best method, yes it requires updating and a little care, but if you are at familiar with excel you can customize it to your liking.
