A New Jersey man has been arrested for hijacking a 6-figure domain name from an ownership group that includes industry pioneer Marc Ostrofsky and former Justice Department prosecutor Albert Angel. Note to crook: Re-read your Robbery 101 text book - stealing from federal prosecutors is NEVER a good idea!

Great to see justice prevail, however victims of domain theft shouldn't have to have connections in law enforcement to put the crook behind bars.

Agreed. What if the victims were not those high-profile people? What if the domains were only of "average value"? Theft is theft, no matter who the victim is or the value of the possession.

so in this case:
Domain Thief Lands in Jail After Picking the Wrong People to Steal From

but sadly, for other cases:
Domain Thief Roams Free After Picking the Right People to Steal From

"the right people" being average domainers who don't have million-dollar domains or connection to law enforcement agencies.

I believe we just on the way to understanding cyber crimes and domain name space security.

The only reason "justice prevailed" was because of the high profile and wealth of the victims.

These two millionaires who seems to have jointly owned the domain could'nt keep their accounts from being hacked and the domain was even sold probably before they even realized it was stolen?

Many people had domains stolen and never got them back. Many domainers, such as myself, had their domains stolen by people using Paypal and never got them back. Maybe someone should prosecute paypal.

Registrar Godaddy.com is also named in the suit for negligence and contributory trademark infringement under the Anti-Cyber Piracy statute.

Haha, Godaddy!
